Championship Golf is hard. These guys play on an entirely different level than “weekend amateurs”.

Championship golf on a links course is a different breed of cat. You can throw away a chance to win on one hole if you let up a tiny bit.

The postage stamp in a stiff cross wind has to be the most terrifying 100 yards in golf.

Amazing insight. I thought every chucklefrick at the member-guest was on the same level.

What are "weekend amateurs" anyway? You mean weekend warriors? How do i maintain my weekend amateur status? Like if i play on a thursday does that mean i turned pro?

Usually when a pro shoots a low round, it's hard to back it up with another one. Happens all the time to professionals and amateurs alike. He seems to crash and burn (no pun) a lot on Sundays when in contention. He'll figure it out.

Following it up with a 79 ain’t normal though

ETA: 80

It is when you are playing in conditions like that. Sam is wild off the tee at times and the BO will expose that.

72

There was nothing in the realm of normal or expected what burns did yesterday. Him and JT were really really bad

He was also one of the couple golfers that felt like they somewhat fraudulently made it into the last few groups because he didn’t have to deal with nearly as much wind as the rest of those guys on Saturday.

Courses like Troon are beyond punitive if you’re a little off with your driver. So many wild high scores while one guy almost got to 10 under by staying in the fairway mostly.

But they had played well enough the first 3 days to be in the hunt.

I'll give you a tennis analogy so maybe you will understand. Its like getting beat in straight sets at the semifinal of a major. Getting there was a good accomplishment. But you want to point your finger and say it looks like this guy sucks. Thats just ignorant. Its ignorant of the course, ignorant of their performance, and just ignorant of golf in general. You dont like Burns and JT. We get it. But the last week does not prove what you want it to prove.

They were good enough to finish 31st

So the equivalent of losing in the round of 32 at a tennis grand slam, and that isn’t even taking into account the great draw they got Saturday morning

So thanks for your tennis analogy. Puts it into easy terms for me. Losing on the round of 32 for a player isn’t that great. Compared to general population? Excellent. In terms of pros? Very forgettable and not even a resume marker

And burns is my favorite player on tour in terms of who I would like to see win. Calling spades a spade has nothing to do with liking someone

Someone I don’t like is Clark.

Well they are ranked 29 and 30th in the OWGR. So where were your expectations of where they are supposed to finish?

Exactly. One was previously #1 and the other top 10

Neither has found their form again. The entire premise.

top 30 in the world. Muh “they lost their form”. The consistency with which you are wrong is staggering.

JT was number 1 in the world. Burns was top 10

A 31st finish in a major is not good for them especially when it’s one of
their top finishes in them for a major in the last 2 years…

They’re both top 30 in the world. Just stop. You, once again, are making a fool of yourself.
