REVIEW - My Buddah Fitting (sort of)

Edit* After weighing all the feedback ( good and bad) I decided to schedule a driver fitting. I tend to have a steep approach and I generate way too much spin. I know these are aspects of my swing that are mechanically corrected but I suspect some trace of that signature will always be present. I’m not long off the tee but I swing hard… so, we’ll see what he has to say and what he puts me in. I’ll post an honest review and the results… thanks
*Edit Post-Fitting* As promised, I am posting my experience with my scheduled driver fitting today. My appointment began on time and Budda was very professional. He listened to what my objective was in getting fitted and understood what I was looking for. I let it be known from the get-go that I knew a good game is a combination of practice, coaching, and good equipment and that I had no problem buying whatever he felt would best suit me. After some time on the monitor with my driver, he advised that my driver was likely a little too long for me and too heavy. However - - and this is the sign of an honest guy - - he advised that I needed to work with my coach a bit more before getting a custom fitted driver. He recognized and pointed out some flaws in my swing that are causing me to lose and/or not generate the power I want. Therefore, to that end, he advised that "sure, he could sell me a $600 driver and let me enjoy a honeymoon period" but in reality, until I corrected these swing flaws, the objectives I told him I wanted would not be met. So, here is a guy - - who if it was all about money, could have jammed me up for a fitting fee and a new custom driver - - but instead told me that a custom fit is not in my best interest right now. He did offer to re-weight and cut down my current driver ( which I let him do) advising that as I continue to work with my coach, these slight changes in my current driver will help me develop a more consistent swing. So, all in all...I see this as evidence of an honest guy who genuinely wants his customers to improve their game.

Never met him, but it sounds like he did you a solid.

Did your coach tell you to go get fitted for clubs?

No. I have just started with a coach. I recently started playing again and upgraded all my equipment. Basically, went to EW and found some stuff I hit well. Somehow I hit my irons very well, very strong, very high, and about a club less than most of my playing buddies......but I just do not have the same power with a driver. So, ( in my mind) I figured I was just hitting the wrong driver for me and figured something custom would help.
Buddah showed me 3 areas where I was losing a lot of power with my driver. So, I am glad he is a straight up guy....otherwise, I would have wasted money

This is helpful, so thanks for sharing. Where is he located? I’ve also been in a phase for a while where I’m striking it well with my irons but my driver is such a liability that I typically tee off with a fairway wood.

Had an iron fitting with him last week. Left with the same opinion as you. He asked
Me to reschedule my driver fitting as he felt it would be better to address that when I was fresh. I must’ve hit different irons for close to two hours while he put different shafts and club heads together so I wasn’t offended by his suggestion at
all. Like you, I told Him I wasn’t loyal to any brand and was open to whatever he suggested. I ended up buying Srixon ZX-5 irons.
Overall, he seems like a straight shooter.
