I'm currently using Taylor Made Rac irons that are about 12 years old. I picked up golf again and have been shooting mid 90's over the last several rounds. I am looking to improve so I have invested in lessons which i'm hoping will take some strokes off my iron play and long game. My question is what is a good set of irons that will be ok while i'm improving and will allow some growth once I improve. Not looking to buy today as I want a few lessons under my belt but i'm also not trying to wait a year so i'd like to start putting together some options. I've always been partial to Callaway and Taylor Made. All recommendations will be appreciated.

Just about any iron can be adjusted for loft and lie to fit you if your swing changes. But you’re going to really struggle and suck if you get something that isn’t forgiving enough for your current game.

Callaway Rogue or TM M4? You won’t outgrow either of those for a long time.

Are the Callaway Apex 19 irons too unforgiving?

That’s incredibly subjective. Just get the first couple of lessons. Your pro should be able to tell you if you need new gear or not.
