Pulled a hamstring playing tennis with my 11 y.o. niece. Also tweaked my upper back digging up stumps in the backyard. Definitely couldn't make a full swing, but I got invited to play a course I've I've always wanted to play ( The Territory )

It's not a long course, but I scored well under my average doing half-swing drives, bump & runs, and putting well. Just fairways and greens. Had a couple short birdie putts resulting from 170+ yard approaches that never got more than 15 feet off the ground. I spent 30 minutes on the practice green while my buddies were on the range, which payed off bigly.

Point being - lesson learned: trying to hit shots like my 24 year old self is less effective at my age, than swinging within strict limits. There may be something to the Old Man Game I've been trying to avoid adopting.

I’ve been injured for basically a year. I’m finally feeling back to my old self. It feels amazing to have all my power back, but it’s nice to have those old man shots in the bag.

There’s that old rule: never bet a golfer on the first tee who’s injured.

When I was in my 20s, I was put in a twosome with an 85-year old man at Westwood in Norman. He only played 9, but he beat me up and down those 9 holes 120 yards at a time. To top it off, he got a hole in one on 9 with a worm burner that never got over 1 foot high.

I have a love/hate relationship with that track. Love it because it's 5 minutes from my house; hate it because the guys who run it are dicks.

Hip had been killing me during rounds and I still get progressively worse as round goes on

Maybe I should get my dad's clubs out the attic

My first round in the 70s was with in injured wrist. Years later shot a personal best 76 in a steady sprinkle all round. In both cases I played “boring” golf and never approached a full swing.

Drive for show, putt for dough.

Truest phrase ever.

If my 30 year old self could putt like my 60 year old self I’d have turned pro.

Got a combo of tennis and golfers elbow in my right arm. I can tell when I swing a bad swing because I get instant pain/punishment.
