Flying to San Fran and after a few days in the city and wine country with my wife my turn comes. A Dodgers/Giants Sunday day game , then driving through the Redwoods to Hwy 1 and down the Pacific Coast to Monterey. Never been to California, much less Pebble Beach. Pretty pumped.

Not terrible. Better if you could play pebble but at least you get to walk the course at the same time with another 75,000 people.

Poppy Hills Link

Here’s a link that may interest some of you. It’s 1200 per foursome but if any of you are making the trip to Pebble Beach with 3 buddies to see the Open it sounds like a great way to kill a day in Monterey.

Hell, you’ve got 6+ months to start putting together a trip now.

A buddy and I went to the PGAC at Bellerive.

I’ll be immune to gallery crowds the rest of my life.

Never seen anything like that.

You couldn't pay me $1,200 to play golf with double shotguns and two groups starting on every hole. Sounds miserable but I'm sure the views are great.

My dad and I were at the PGA Championship this year on Sunday. Those crowds were insane. One of the great sports experiences I've ever had.

If you want to play while there, go play Pasatiempo in Santa Cruz. It’s on your way (or way back) from San Fran. Designed by Alister Mackenzie (Augusta National, Cypress Point, Crystal Downs). In fact, his house is on the 6th fairway. Only one view of the Ocean from the elevated first tee, but it’s an amazing golf course. Just about the ideal price of land, lots of strategic design and some of the most incredible greens and bunkers you’ll ever see. It’s my favorite course I’ve ever played and it’s not even close.

Just got back from Napa. Had one day where I went to Monterey and played Bayonet Black Horse. It's going to be awesome
