Looks like it will be Rahm & Xander fighting for gold but it will be a battle for bronze

Scottie is 3 under and one back
Rory only 2 back now as well

Scottie is 2 back & Rahm & Xander both just birdied again. Scottie is trying to catch Fleetwood for bronze

Dude this is far far far from a two man race at this rate

Sure someone can shoot a 62 today but I’m just calling it like I see it right now. It looks like it will be a duel for gold

Damn Wyndham has made quite the comeback since day 1

I’d be curious to see where winning a gold would rank for these guys
It’s got to be up there with a major.
Losing probably doesn’t hurt as bad because there isn’t a money involved

With 7 holes left Tommy and Rahm are tied with Hideki one back
That two man race

It’s an interesting question. My guess is winning gold isn’t up there with the major wins for guys like Scottie / Rahm / Xander / Rory.
But to a Tommy Fleetwood this has to feel like he’s playing the final round at Augusta.

The prize money varies by country, but even the highest paying country is not close to the payment for winning an elite field tournament.

It’s not a major, but with the passage of time it will gain in stature.

It’s also a 60 man field with a bunch of players who aren’t in the top 100 of the world so it’s not nearly as competitive as a major either.
It’s still super cool, and like tennis it will get bigger with time, but I’d rank it a little bit below the Players in terms of how badly the players want to win it.
