GHIN should still work. They have been down for maintenance

I’ve been trying to enter a score in GHIN since Tuesday. The app keeps telling me it’s “unable to connect.” I read somewhere that there are some glitches with the new system.

It was supposed to come back online today, but apparently they're having problems and trying to work through them

It was down Jan 1 - Jan 5. It's back up today.

Update app and it works.
Like some of the new features in app, tracking stats and such.

Searching for courses is a pain. Has to be exact.

Not a fan of the new rules, with net double bogey max. Feel like it will hurt the casual golfer keeping an accurate handicap.

Yea, my goal for the 2020 year was to play a round with no triples. This will kinda make it hard to track...

This has the same intent the same thing as the equitable stroke rule in the old system, it's just a more accurate, less generalized way of scoring the "max."

However, I know a lot of people ignored the equitable stroke rule...

The old way, I picked up after double on every hole. Now I have to track which holes I get a shot and I max out at triple on those holes? This is just going to take a bit to get used to

Yep. No more double bogey max for golfers under a certain hdcp. Now everyone goes by net double bogey. So if I’m getting 6 strokes, I can now take triple on the 6 toughest holes and double on the rest. Definitely something to get used to.

Yes, it's impossible to get many in my regular group to consistently follow the equitable stroke rule. No way in hell they will figure out course handicaps and appropriate net double bogey maxes.

That's my only sticking point. All the other reasons and changes with the handicap system are exceptional.

ETA- And carding my first 8 in about 8 years was a painful experience

I'm never worried about stroking for the purposes of the double bogey handicap quick rake. Now I'm going to have to either look at it before the round or just put everything out and figure it out on the back end.

My handicap index is already .2 lower with the new system. We will see what happens long term.

Most everyone dropped a tick because it’s taken 8 rounds instead of 10.

Mine went down .3 from the last revision.

What I find most interesting is how they'll figure in weather and course conditions into the daily updates. I guess it'll be heavily dependent on other players turning their scores in asap that day and if everyone shoots higher or lower than average that day, it'll adjust.

I don't mind the change, except at places like BREC courses that just make the par 5's the 1-4 HDCP holes, the par 4's 5-14, and the par 3's 15-18.

I never realized that.

Santa Maria's easiest holes being the 4 par 3s is laughable.

BREC sets that or is it done by the LGA/USGA handicaping/slope people?
