New driver head but keeping old shaft question?

Got fitted for a shaft a couple of years ago that I really like. Going to upgrade the head now.
So when they put the old head on the new shaft, it took them a couple of days (can’t remember how they had to attach it with glue or whatever, but it wasn’t just a pop off the old shaft and pop in the new one)
So my question is, if I buy a new driver head, what is the process to actually putting it on my current shaft? Do I need to take it somewhere?

They heat up the hosel and pull the old shaft. Clean up the tip and epoxy it back in the new driver.

if you are sticking with the same brand (and your shaft tip is fairly new) then it should just plug in.
This is assuming you have a driver with an adjustable tip.
I'm on my 3rd TM driver head with the same shaft.

If it is an Opti-Fit hosel and going to the same brand head should work.
Of course, there is always a chance of swing weight problems depending on the new head weight.
If it is a fixed model design, then lead tape can be your friend to fix the swing weight.
Hosel depths can also affect overall length of the club too.

I was going to mention the weight of the head might make the shaft play different and might not like it anymore.
My suggestion would be to find a head/shaft combo that he likes and buy it and keep the old as a backup driver if the new goes cold.

Yep, Always good to have a dependable backup.
Plus it depends on how many times that shaft pull has been grinded on.
Sometimes the tip get weak and gives out too.
