Both good options. Depends on what you want.

LT: Better practice facilities, course winds through a neighborhood with OB on one side. Overall thought to be somewhat easier of the two. Not member owned (So no say in policy, but also no cash calls for large projects).

Oakbourne: Old-style design, course on a plot of land. Very little OB. Many trees, few fairway bunkers.

Tie breaker should probably be where you live and maybe who you already know who are members.

Oakbourne has a good young member base. A lot of guys in the thirties/lower 40s. Oakbourne will make you a better golfer overall.

Cane Row is in great shape and is getting better. Before you make a decision, do yourself a favor and play cane.

The GM. She is a lesbian Nazi. She has caused many members to leave.

Oakbourne has traditionally been in better shape over the last 10-20 years, but LT might actually be better right now. Comments about LT drama are legit. If you're a range rat, then LT might be the play for the practice facilities. If you're more likely to go play 9 with baws then OCC is probably a better fit. OCC is way better when it comes to tennis and pool amenities. I prefer LT layout, but that's just a personal preference. The OB on one side of 80% of the holes does get old at LT.

Also, I heard LT got rid of the initiation fee. That might be worth looking into

The GM is an Authoritarian bitch. She’s been k own to record members’ conversations while they’re in the grill. She’s been there about 10yrs and has been through 8-10 pros and 8-10 superintendents. Stay away. Far, far away. Join Oakbourne, Cane Row, The Farm. Hell, join a cult before you take part in that shite show.

im at LT and really like it. they have a good young contingency growing. about two dozen of us have slowly started a group that play sat/sun mornings.

i can't speak on Oakbourne. ive always liked the course. but i really enjoy practicing, so LT made more sense for me

eta: as far as management.. ive had no issues, so can't really speak on it. ive heard there were problems a while back, but that theyve subsided.

one post.

i'd be interested in hearing more about the problems. seeing as i don't really care about speaking up and our younger group can throw some weight around now i would think.

Y'all can not. She has run off about $150M of net worth in 3-4 people. She does not care what any of the members think.

Not arguing but generally curious, why do you think LT is better for practice? Better range and/or short game area? Better instructors for lessons?

OCC practice areas is one of my favorite things about the club. Granted, the giant net is not ideal, but I don't bomb it anyway. It's not been the best over the last 2 months or so while they redo the range so we've been hitting off the mat. But generally one of the best ranges anywhere. Practice green is awesome and love that it's right by the first tee. The chipping/pitching area is great but it does suck that it's way down the hill by #14 tee.

Having played LT many times, I do like the driving range but hate that the range is so far from the clubhouse/first tee. The chipping green area is not the best. Putting green is nice.

Driving range: LT > OCC but location is better at OCC (right next to parking, can pull up and start hitting, very laid back)
Chipping Green: OCC > LT but location is better at LT
Putting Green: OCC > LT
Lessons/Instruction: LT > OCC (I would say Popp is much better than Cliff)

It makes no sense that as successful as the owner is he does not run her off. She’s bad for business. I’m sure there’s way more to the story
