History, facilities and funding.

Check out Karsten Creek, GC.

A better course for one...There is a reason they practice at BRCC and CCLA before a big tournament.

UC is better in some ways than CCL, but yes it lacks some things that CCL has in elevation changes, trees and type of traps.

UC greens are severe. Too severe I guess.

I can understand practicing at the other courses depending on where the next tournament is, but that would change depending on where you are playing that week.

You can’t build a course to fit every situation.

But you said the practice facilities are lacking. How so?

You didn't list any of the ways.

Diversity. Area. Does it have lights for at night everywhere?

I think UC is longer. Not sure. I think it has better fairways and is in better shape. The traps have better sand. The greens are faster and roll better from my limited experience.

Diversity?

Area?

Lights? Are lights vital?

Uc is longer. The rest of your statement is incorrect.

I’m not going to argue. You may be 100% correct.
Recently played CCL after a light rain. Greens didn’t seem that good. Fairways had a lot of bad places. Probably was a bad day, played UC more. Greens are usually good and fast.
I thought the sand at UC was too heavy, Big grains. You play way more than I do snd I respect your opinion.

But my biggest question is what practice facilities does LSU not have that other than the course?

Indoor putting facility. Better hitting bays. Better putting green. Better locker room. Less meeting space. And like Beaver said. Better/renovated course. I know they just renovated it but it’s not what it should be.

Thanks
I had no idea there were indoor putting facilities. There’s no excuse not to have a top putting green, a nice locker room, meeting room for the players. That seems easy.

I know they built them a building about a dozen years ago. Why isn’t it nice?

And the course is the course. BR is limited in a lot of ways by the terrain. I think the renovation could have been better. I’ve felt several holes are kind of tricked up and really don’t fit that well. Some things aren’t finished off right. And the greens are too tricky.

Yep

Go online and look at the facilities that Texas, ASU, Stanford, OK State, Georgia have compared to LSU...it ain’t even close.

Schools like Iowa State and Miss St are stepping up big time as well. I would argue that Iowa State has better all around facilities.

Hell, look at LaTech - they get to chill at squire creek all day long - with full access to all the driving range amenities.

SMU has better facilities than LSU. Heck UL-M has a sweet on campus facility - got to take a tour - actually a very, very nice for the school with the smallest D1 budget in the nation.

LSU should be a national contender in men’s and women’s golf every year...period....facilities bring the best recruits and LSU ain’t getting the best kids...and their ain’t enough David Toms or Sam Burns that will go to LSU out of love for the school.

Looked up the rankings

Mississippi - top 3 ranked juniors - LSU still have the Trolio kids a a commmit - but his tournament scoring average is closer to 80 than par. The other two - 1 is uncommitted the other headed to Vandy.

Louisiana - top 3 going to WF, ULL, USM

Texas - top 10 - all going to programs like Texas, Stanford, Ok State, SMU, Baylor

I think the Trolio kid has the most upside potential - so that is good - but normally, LSU would want a much lower scoring average.

NLU boys did a Strapped in Ames, during which they tour the ISU facility. It's a really impressive set up.
