Been playing at LSU for about 3 years now and even worked there for a short period of time and I have to say, the current conditions are some of the best I've seen out there. Don't get me wrong its not the Country Club of Louisiana or anything but it has made drastic improvements. Greens are coming together nicely and the fairways/rough are improving as well. The tee boxes are not perfect but are getting there. I heard they hired a new guy to help with agronomy and I believe by the summer it could rival Webb as a cheap but decent place to play. Thoughts?

Not really what you asking, but I would go a completely different route long term.

Remake it into a 9 hole course with vastly different tee boxes on the majority of holes. Use the reclaimed property on a walking only, no bunker/no hazards 6 hole par 3 course. Build a poor mans Top Golf type range with two level semi-indoor tee areas offering food and alcohol along with simulator booths. Bring in major equipment companies as sponsors and offer state of the art club rental. Bring in the LSU agronomy department and offer a golf course management program. Have them run the "new" course.

I am a traditionalist, but college courses should be designed with college kids in mind. Make it a learning center and introduce more people to the game.

I played there last fall and it would be difficult to tell that it was a golf course without the signage. Im not trying to be funny. It was absolutely unrecognizable as a golf course.

Interested to see if this is true..

Grew up playing there in the late 90's early 00's. It's hard to think they can get it back to the shape it was in when 15-18 were across the road where Alex Box is, but I'd sure love it they can!

Yes. Many would. There is absolutely no reason for it to exist otherwise. When CM shuts down for renovations and with Dumas still MIA, they will probably assume that business is amazing and golf is needed there. But, it will only be temporary.

The course isn't needed if they won't invest money into it or add lights.

This is good to hear. I hope you're right. I've been driving and noticing the improvement in the greens. Place has been in shambles since 2020.
