re: LIV Golf has lost 1.1 billion outside of the US alone

This fund has bought a few soccer teams and other things. Teams cost ~6bn. So their investment at this point isn’t to the level of just buying a team outright. None of us have any clue what their financial model is telling them for attempting to takeover a sport but my guess is they have quite a bit more capital to deploy.

Just bring back Rahm, DJ, Bryson and Koepka back to the PGA tour. They can have the rest.

it's branded to the lowest common denominator at best, which makes no sense for a sport that prides itself on its traditions and history.
Unfortunately, decorum is down in society in general.
Alcoholism is basically a big part of American golf culture and all live sports events. I laugh when the beverage cart girl asks me IF I need anything on the 18th fairway, but I’ve seen foursomes have her mix them a drink while we wait to tee off. They are 3/4/5 golf strokes from the bar at the clubhouse. Do you really need another transfusion to get you through 10 to 12 minutes?
The Beth Page crowd is a symptom of a general lack of decorum on the course. I see a lot of overserved, obnoxious golfers. I can see having a beer or whatever, but I’ve seen guys throw up on the seventh tee. It’s different now.
With or without LIV, the golf culture has changed. Waste Management tournament is what the masses seem to want as far as tour events go. Get hammered. Scream at the players. “Mashed potatoes” is not 1% of golf fans.

They seem to be fine playing more in DP/Asian tour events. Sucks for US Golf fans

Baw, your user name is makersmark. Seems justified to me? Would you rather her ignore you?

I’d like to never hear about it again tbh.

All work is essentially prostitution at some level, and all money is “dirty” somehow, so I don’t care whether guys take millions to play golf or not
Baw, what do you do for work that requires this level of mental gymnastics?

Did you forget about Harold Varner III and the best iron player in the world, Taylor Gooch? Why it the world would you leave them in LIV?

I honestly like that guy. Gooch can take a hike.

Same bizarre mentality on the poli board cheering for Russia, North Korea, and China over “globalist” boogeymen.
