Lessons in Baton Rouge

I am looking for a PGA teaching pro to get lessons from in the BR area. Anyone have a good recommendation? I would prefer to hit on an outdoor range, and a trackman would be a plus. Thanks

Good luck getting a lesson at Greystone. Been trying for weeks and the range keeps getting under water.

What? The range has been open a ton even after the rains we’ve gotten. They’ve been much more aggressive keeping it open this year.

Just telling you what Chris said.

I’m not saying there aren’t days where it’s rained out. But it’s been much better than previous years.

How are the greens? Debating on going out tomorrow

Greener but playing about the same.

I'm just looking forward to getting out and playing a few. So I'm not too picky.
Not to completely hijack a thread, but what is the reason behind Greystone not going full private? How many more members do y'all need before it makes the money side work? Is that a plan or no?

All my answers would just be speculation.
I think there are two main reasons: 1) not enough members and 2) cheap membership. Cost of living in LP is much lower and I don’t think the membership cost has gone up at all since opening in 2006. Seniors still pay just $200/month. Associate is just $350. I don’t think there are enough people with enough money in the area who love golf to support it. Again, these are speculative.

I was talking with a buddy and we both would contemplate joining out there bc of how cheap and close it is for both of us. But we both have the same thought of "why join when I can still play out there." $350 a month means I have to play 6-7 times to break even? I may not play that many times a month. It is just a thought I had this morning and I don't have an answer to. Scarcity may drive more membership. Just curious about the semi private model in general. Either way, glad the greens are going in the right direction.

The 350 golf membership does include the social membership too. Access to the tennis courts and pool. May not be useful for you, but it helps some guys sell it to their wives.

That makes sense. It's still a good deal for golf only.

This kind of turned into a Greystone Membership Thread... Anyways, thanks for the recs.
