Tom’s is pretty damn busy. You don’t just show up one week for these things. I think there is a chance he never fully went all in on truly wanting to be a part of “the club”

Could be but I thought I read somewhere that he was miffed that he wasn't offered it.

Don't really remember but I think his "turn" would have been when they brought Tom Watson back to captain in 2014.

Well, we've lost 8 of our last 11 Ryder Cups. If winning the Ryder Cup is a prerequisite to be captain, that pool is going to be pretty small. Hell, Tiger Woods has only been apart of one winning team...25 years ago.

Let Boo Weekly do it. We can change our sponsor from Ralph Lauren to Mossy Oak

If they are dipping down this low, I would have thought Kuchar over Keegan.

But at least Keegan has a little fire to him similar to when Azinger was the captain, so I’m good with it.

I think, very low down on the list, is that Keegan may have more experience than most with Bethpage. An article I read mentioned that he played there quite often in college, as the GC allowed the St John's golf team to play on Mondays when it was closed. Keegan may have an idea of who is best suited to play there.

In my opinion, part of the captain's role should be making sure these guys are in form. Mainly, getting them to play tournament golf to stay sharp and build up to the ryder cup. Not just show up to the event with their buddies and think the camaraderie will carry them.

Taking a month off after the fed ex cup and vacationing with the team around Europe isn't going to get you sharp even if you call it "team building"

To be fair, 6 of those 8 losses were against either Rahm or McIlroy so idk if a better captain could help there

Picking Keegan based on his familiarity with Bethpage seems legit, but there were better options

I kinda like it. Enough with the boys club picks. Unless Fowler, Jordan, and JT maybe even Burns and Clark don’t have a good ‘25 it’s time for some of these young guys to step up and cut their teeth.

He went to St Johns and maybe helps with NY crowd.

I’m still upset that David Toms gets no look. It’s all buddy buddy network

Thats a laughable statement. They are professional golfers. The captain has zero influence on their form for the ones that auto make the team. Scottie and Xander or any pro would tell a Ryder cup captain to eat their a-hole if they tried to start shaping their game in any way

He isn’t their coach or even in their camp. His influence goes as far as “hey, we would like you to come play the course a few times before the RC”. If they say no there is nothing he can do

Ricky did poorly, but I’m guessing you didn’t bother to look at how JT finished on points.

JT wasn’t put on the team just because, despite not playing terribly well on tour, he shows up in Ryder Cup.

JT and Jordan better earn their way on the team, not getting the captains pick

Another person it seems who didn’t bother to look at JT’s point total.

Ryder Cup isn’t a tour event. Some guys just play better in it, he’s one.
