I was a long time critic of PXG, as I really hate their marketing. Wanted a splooge filled iron head and really wanted Pings, but since I’m an iron ho, the used prices on pings just couldn’t cut it. Got a steal on some Gen4 0311’s and they flat out perform. Feel, distance, and workability are all fantastic. Highly underrated.

So, I’m here to confess my fagdom and ask for forgiveness from Bopper and the rest of the PXG cult.

Welcome Tater.

It's beyond me that some golfers get so triggered by a tv commercial to disregard trying some very good golf clubs.

I have tried every iron set available and I have stuck with my PXG irons.

They should be atop everyone’s options.

Personally, I wish they’d focus more on availability for testing and less on their marketing/pricing structure.

Price your shite comparable with other OEMs and make it easier to find/test

There is a reason most tour players have changed from them. Parsons will say he didn’t renew their contract but the truth is distance control for tour players is not there with pxg irons.

I don't buy that when they have more PGA Tour presence than ever. And a huge presence of the Korn Ferry.

Knapp won and a guy on the Korn Ferry shot a 57 with them.

Scanning GolfWrx, I see pxg irons in tour mixed bags quite often.

179.00 per Gen 6 iron with a good choice of shafts ( steel or graphite) is very competitive.

You don’t have to buy it. TrackMan and tour pros made it known. Howell had his best “ball striking” rounds and won weeks after a switch. He talked about distance control. The better the ball striker the worse the irons are for them. Korn ferry guys aren’t Pgatour caliber ball strikers. They miss 5mm compared to 2.

Looking at their site, they have 9 staffers who hold a Pgatour card with points good enough to play each week. That’s down from 14 in 2021.

Howell has been the biggest club ho ever on tour and your speaking of ancient history.

Since Howell was with PXG , they have developed more models for tour caliber players with the ST models, etc..

And yet PGATour numbers are down. The better strikers.

Look man you like them. That’s great. They are great clubs. Just not for the best of the best.

Out of all honesty why do you think the best players that plays them is Luke List and Knapp? The 46th and 65th ranked players in the world.

It’s 100% not money. Almost all of them have the same contract. X per event teed up. X per win. I can sign with pxg tom and have close to the same contract I have with Callaway playing wise. But they give me more benefits being a club pro.

Money, incentives, benefits, etc...

PXG is still a babe in the golf manufacturing industry.

I'm not saying that they are the end all of golf clubs, I only said that I find it silly that people won't try them because of Parsons commercials.

That are plenty of Japanese golf companies that blow the standard golf US companies out of the water if you judge on pure quality.

It's all about marketing and money. If it wasn't more golfers would have Wilson Staff clubs in their bags because they are damn good.

My issue isn’t the commercials, but the devaluing the sticks the way they have in the past.

Also, I’m not trying to go pro, and I don’t think that’s a good metric to use to determine club performance. Wilson makes a good club as does Cobra and they don’t have many guys “on the tour.”

Different strokes for different folks, I suppose. Anyway, great feeling clubs that perform for me

I was in the same boat. Never really gave PXG much thought until I saw a print add with a full bag special. Went for a fitting and was blown away at how great they felt. The driver and three wood were not that good and I sold them after one round. I've had my irons for two years now and love them. I do occasionally get a shot maybe once every two rounds where the ball just mysteriously goes twenty yards further than it should. I'm a 3 handicap and when my normal nine iron that should go about 155-160 yards goes 185-190, it freaks me out a little. And that's not a flyer lie out of the rough, that's off a tight fairway.

Personally, I love my pxgs but I am a feel player and no iron feels as good as them even on mishits.

But I do believe pros may have an issue w them regarding distance control.

I also have the out of the blue blasted shot that goes 15-20 yds further than it should. Those shots are always with solid contact, but I hit other shots solid and they don’t fly like that.

It always seems to be on an approach shot too and it can be fairly costly. I could imagine a tour player not being able to have confidence in precise distances.

The tour comparisons are funny for me. Tour pros don’t use hollow headed clubs. Most don’t even use slight cavities. There’s a reason they use blades. Most goo filled beads I’ve used have had flier issues and P790’s still haven’t fixed it 100% (much improved over gen1 though). I haven’t hit a flier yet, so I’m going to assume these are on a club by club basis

anybody on this forum talking about PXG clubs are not the best of the best. so Im sure PXG clubs would fit anybody's game on here. everybody has their own opinions about club manufacturers. I have a golfing buddy that had Calloway Driver and woods in his bag, loves them but say's that he hates their irons. he has Taylormade irons and a cobra putter. to each his own I guess.
