I had the opportunity to play a private course in Monterrey Mexico. Carved out of the mountains and ran down through the valleys. It was a beautiful and well kept course. Played there several times on a member/guest ticket. Other than the obvious choices of Augusta and Pine Valley, I'd love to see my drives in the air and a mountain in the background again.

I know you said one, but since everyone has said Augusta or Pine Valley (and I can’t disagree), I’ll add a caveat and say if it’s west of the Mississippi, I’m taking Stone Eagle in Palm Desert CA (Palm Springs). Check out the website.

When we played Old Head, we did have 25-30 mph winds. On one of the par 4’s that lines the cliff, there was a stiff crosswind. My caddy said “Just hit it out to the ocean, and let the wind blow it back to land.” So I aimed 30 degrees off-line straight at the water, which was tough to do mentally. Sure enough, after impact, it looked like there was no way it would make it back to land. Next thing you know, it’s in the middle of the fairway. One thing I learned about playing golf in Ireland, always listen to your caddy.
