It’s quite a change and feels crazy. After a few hours I am pouring in five footers but longer ones feel awkward.

Anyone have any tips?

I’d try cutting it down to 34’. You’ll get more experienced tips at that length

I think they will ban the arm lock putters in the near future. Go back to a normal putter and stay ahead of the rules book.

No experience with an arm lock, but being 6'4, I've made a couple 37" Scotty Camerons with shaft extensions. It's nice not having to hunch over the ball on the green

Naw. This is like the free relief form divots. It probably should but there is no way to police it.

What? Pretty easy to police a putter being locked against your arm?

No it isn’t. How far up can it go? Where can it touch? Etc. what about jackets with loose sleeves? It’s never ending.

As far as you want it without being anchored.

Your hands.

So what about when a player has a large hand press? The grip would be on his forearm.

Then that would be illegal. Just like a 48" putter is legal until you press it into your chest.

So when is it illegal? I start with a small forward press, before my follow thru I lag the putter and hand press more having the grip hit my forearm. That’s illegal or legal?

If you’re using it to anchor the putter above your hands? Illegal

Isn't the other anchor about intent. Think this would fall under the same bucket.

Yes. If you are using a longer putter for the purpose of anchoring it, then you are breaking the rule.

But back to the OP. If you’re just playing weekend golf, by all means just play whatever you enjoy.

It can’t go above the elbow

The next step is to cut your irons the same length and play 6 hour rounds obviously.

Maybe some steroids.

Are your eyes over the ball at that length? I’m 6’0” and use a 33” inch putter to get over the line. Was a big difference going down to that size.

Most are not teaching this anymore. Your eyes are below the ball to see a clearer line of your putt.

Day two of arm lock was better than the first. Today we played a quick 18 since the course was closed to the public. No three putts and made three birdie putts.

I think it will take a while to get used to but short putts seem to be really easy with it.

Interesting. So how would something like eyeline mirror work under that scenario? Want to make sure I practice properly.

I was missing a lot left prior to that, but I also had to not look up at where the putt was going to soon so as to not close the putter by looking up too soon.
