How Important Is the Type of Launch Monitor At A Sim?

Do you chose which Sim you go to based off of the type of Launch Monitor? Is there a Launch Monitor that you prefer over the rest? Are there any that you've had a bad experience using and refuse to go back?

Trackman indoors isn’t the best. It’s a radar system so it’s best outdoors to track the entire flight. Typically, the more slo-mo cameras the better. And if you can put the reflector dots on clubs, you get real club data and not guesses based on “blobs.” GC Quad has been the standard for some time. But many others have caught up. I can’t say there is one I completely avoid.
I just got the shot scope LM1 delivered. Haven’t tested it out. It’s a radar system but only measures distance and ball speed. I wish it had spin and launch angle though (or max height).

What about the trackman io (indoor optimized), any experience with that one? I've heard really good things about the gc quad, but would it not become an issue if you had righties and lefties trying to hit in the same session?

Not sure about the io. I’m admittedly not up to date with the launch monitor latest and greatest. GC Quad may have come up with an easy way to adjust from right to left. I know a few guys with sims that went with the overhead option which doesn’t care about left and right. I think it’s uneekor.

Trackman IO is their indoor version that isn’t fully dependent on radar. It works well inside since that is what it was designed to do unlike the TM4 (radar).
I’ve never loved the full swing kit sims so I’ll pick something else if I have local options.

I have a foresight GC quad. I went with that unit vs an overhead so I could take it with me to the range and course.
It all just depends on what you want.

I guess I did a poor job of framing the original question. If you were to go to a commercial Sim, would you pick one with trackman, foresight, etc. or is it not that important to you?

This is where the question came from, I tried a full swing Sim and the whole experience just felt "off". Not having much sim experience though, I was curious if some of the other commercial ones are considered better / more legit / worth driving across town for.

Oh I see.
What’s cool about the trackman is you can download the app and the data goes straight to your phone/device.
Otherwise, as long as the sim has the data you need, I don’t think it really matters.

I think most portable LMs can do that. Shotscope does.

It’s the most important thing. I have a TM4 and a GC3 that I use indoors. I bought the GC3 to play on GS Pro/ SGT. I’m a relatively high ball speed player (173 ball speed) and have had 0 problems with the TM 4 indoors with the right lighting and RCT ball. My only bitch about TM is the putting.
When it comes to commercial, there’s a reason TM has a 60+% market share in the indoor game and it’s their UI and booking and payment software. Their graphics, games, shot analysis, and test center are worlds above the competition. But, call up each company and try them all out and you’ll find what’s best for you.

Full swing is arse in my experience.
I’ve been using TM IO and it’s money.
