Is there any forged iron out there that gives a higher ball flight than the typical forged iron?
I have a naturally low ball flight with my swing.

I’m a 5-handicap, using TM p790’s with stiff graphite shafts. 7-iron goes 160 in the summer. I was fitted for ping G30’s with regular flex graphite, but didn’t like the wide sole and unpredictable ball direction.

Change the kick point, but if you were fitted for R shafts you're gonna have trouble getting the ball up. Go to graphite too, it's a club head speed problem not a club problem.

Gotcha. Could lower the kick point in my stiff graphite shafts. I have a lot of club lag in my downswing, which makes regular flex too whippy.

Side Note: I’ve been fit 3 times, all by reputable guys, and it’s never worked well. I know I’m the exception to the rule, but it’s worked better with me doing my own fitting with research and/or demos.

Srixon cavities. Pick your year. I have the 565s. Very high.

Forging has nothing to do with ball flight. Your swing, Shaft and style of iron head all determine ball flight.

this. I have the 585's and love them. Modus 105 reg flex and no issues with hitting it high. Low ball hitter as well with similar 7i# (typically upper 160s)

My perfect shaft. I have them in my Pings, but have some earlier Nippon in my Srixons. Wish I had the Modus in both.

I tinker alot and "self fit." First go around with these and I love em. Biggest thing that stands out is how repeatable they are.

golf is such a stupid game. I have the 565’s with project X 6.0s to help me get the ball down. I sky just about any other shafts.

It’s just amazing how we’re all fighting something different

So I did some online searching about Srixon irons. They no longer make 565’s or 585’s? Looking at the 5X/7X combo set. Would that be comparable?

You are correct that forging doesn't, but different irons have different CoG and MOI that affect flight, no? Shaft, angle of attack, and dynamic loft are definitely the key contributors, though.

To the OP, if you are having a hard time lifting P790's I would think you need to look into shafts or your swing because they are designed to help players lift the ball.

Yes. OTOH, I am betting there are new sets of the previous models out there if you look hard.
