How can people not grow grass in South Louisiana?

I get what you are saying. But, to be clear, South Louisiana isn't as amazing for growing dwarf types of grass as people think. We have random freezes, snows, floods, hurricanes, rains all the time, heat waves, droughts.

It isn't great sunshine for growing grass until May then ends in September. People think we have this amazing grass growing climate but we don't.

Is this a micro climate in Denham Springs? How is every other golf course getting grass on the greens? Louisiana isn't any different than anywhere else on the Gulf South and there are some amazing greens from Texas to Florida.

The new crew here has been sending off plugs from every green almost weekly to be analyzed. Simply put, the ground hasn’t been healthy since the flood when it had water on them for almost 72 hours straight and all sorts of chemicals got in the topsoil. Then you had some mismanagement… neglect and bad decisions all while you also had two freezes and too much play during 2020.

The last 4 months have been good though. They’ve been repairing more than just 11. They’re keeping the geese off the greens completely. When 11 is back, they’re shutting down 12 and taking a similar approach although it shouldn’t take nearly as long.

BINGO...in addtiona to chemical intrusion there was an ambundance of funky organic materials that settled into the ground and permeated the greens.....threw off the entire balance of the growing environment and was ripe for certain fungus and algeas to bloom and multiple. That flood wasn't just some rain and runoff...it emptied the basin of the Amite into this area for days upon days. The funk that came up through the river and into the area created a marriage of bad circumstances, none of which were conducive to growing great grass.

That being said, ell_13 is spot on when he talks about the good job they have been doing the past several months. I played the course regularly for the past year or so and the conditions were one of the main reasons I held off on joining. AFter seeing the progress that has been made and the proactive management taking place, I felt good about shoving my money across the desk in exchange for my magic 4 digit number.

Come play the course in the spring and I am confident you will be impressed.

Just curious - if someone were looking to join a racist golf group, what exactly should to look for ?

I'm not sure, but they are probably playing the White Tees

White pillow cases used as hats?

Honestly that place is not racist and not sure where or why that was said earlier. Pretty lame.

The place itself and the majority of the groups are not.
