You could just sign up and cancel if you need to. I'm sure there will be alternates

Wouldn't that be a dick move?

Website is lacking in general. But it's partially due to being semiprivate and giving members priority. Members have access to online booking and can book 6 days out and guests without members get 2 days. They can get away with that because of how large the membership is.

I got ya. Well, I sent them an email requesting a tee time last week, and they sent back an email saying I would get a confirmation or denial in 48 hours. 5 days have passed and nothing.

You could explain the situation to them and get their opinion. Though they take alternates in case teams cancel anyways.

I would have just called the pro shop once the 48 hours had passed.

As someone said earlier, the policy is that the general public can get tee times 48hrs prior to the time requested. Are you now within the 48 hr window?

I was at the time of my request.

I don't want to play there that bad. I was going to go back since I live in Denham and I haven't played in a long time. But if they want to make it that difficult, I'm ok.
I'm sure they don't need my green fee anyway.

I guess my main point is that I know members at U Club, BRCC and CCL. I've also played golf randomly with guys who are members at those 3. At no point in discussing their courses does anyone mention anything along the lines of "these guys really know how to put on a tournament."

On the other hand, I legit hear it from every Greystone member I meet.

Was just curious as to why I hear if from. That private course, but no others. And want to know what those guys are doing that is so novel to justify that many mentions.

I wasn't arguing that they weren't good.

You have posters in the thread who aren’t members who say the same thing. You kinda seem bitter about it tbh.

Seriously not trying to sound bitter. Have zero connections to Greystone or any other course, and have no reason to hate on it or any other course. Just trying to understand. And this thread has helped some.

I guess I can summarize as follows: I hear it a lot from a lot of people, so something is going on, bc I don't hear it about anyone else. So I'm curious as to what it is. But everything that's been posted just sounds like stuff you would normally see at a golf tournament that is run by someone with minimum competence.

I'm glad Greystone has guys that are doing good things for members and the community at large. I'm glad y'all all enjoy the quality. But when someone says it over and over, I don't think I'm bitter for wanting to know what's going on and asking additional questions when the things that are pointed to seem like stuff you would see people normally do for a tournament.

Not the phone call, no. But me having to follow up an email request with a phone call, yes. We aren't talking Pebble Beach.

You can either believe what people say, both members and non-members, or you can say that they have minimum competence without (admittedly) being in one of their tournaments. I honestly don’t know what to tell you other than I’m sorry your buddy didn’t get the job.

Same response as above. And I gave you an answer earlier in the thread. I’m sorry that’s not sufficient.

FYI, they don’t take reservations over Facebook. You have to go to the actual website. It works as described there.

I'm sure they run a great tournament. Legitimately have zero information that tells me they don't run a good tournament. I've never played in one, but will try to next year to see what the hype is about.

Just everything you've told me they do for a tournament seems like what you would do for a tournament if you were in a management position at a golf course. And I just figured with how much I hear about tournaments at Greystone, there would be something unique or over the top that they do to get the hype machine rolling.

I had a reply ready to go listing more things they do, but you'll just brush all that off like you've done to my earlier post. It's obvious you're not here to figure out why they do things better than the other local public courses, especially since the competition is BREC, the Bluffs, Copper, etc.

No reason to wait till next year though. You're welcome any time. Hope you enjoy yourself.

Ryan McGwyer is the only guy I know or can think of that could put together better tournaments, but he’s teaching the Dehnambrah’ CC superstars at GolfTec.

GOAT tournament was the Gold Club tourney at Briarwood FWIW
