I'm 69 lead hip replacement and looking at replacement of lead hip (right side as a lefty) and i love to walk the course and carry clubs when it's not blazing. Anyone else with lead hip replacement? Still able to play and walk? How long was your recovery to that point? Thanks

Man I wish I had something golf related to share but I can say my aunt was about your age when she got her hip replaced and has resumed skiing. For some reason I believe it’s an easier recovery that like a knee.

You should definitely get fitted.

My boss had his done in September of last year and was backpack hunting in NM for 10 days six weeks later with no issues. 10 years younger. He said hardest part was getting sleep in a recliner for the week after surgery.

I know it is.

Sometimes a little break is good for the game

Doubly good news-I don't have many backpacking years left, if a new hip will allow that, I'm all in

I had hip replacement 8 years ago. Left hip right handed. I bike and exercise at the gym. It doesn’t take long to get moving and mobile. Maybe a month or two. You will be skipping rope if you want to. I just started playing golf again recently and it doesn’t bother me one bit. I played when I was in my 20s but got bored. Now, my right hip is a diff issue. It needs replacing in about a year or two.

Everybody heals differently.

I played golf 8 weeks to the day after my knee replacement.

Hips are supposed to be a easier recovery.

PT is everything.

I went hiking in Hot Springs two years ago. I bike almost daily in the summer, recently started playing golf, swimming is best but we don’t have a pool. I swam a lot before the operation at LA Fitness. Couldn’t pay me to belong there these days. Good luck and go to every PT session. Be the teachers pet! Walking without pain was the best experience post surgery. I was 2 years overdue for my replacement bc I got laid off and no insurance, and then the flood. It was rough.

I'm on my 5th week after surgery and chomping at the bit for full swings...

I'll see the Doc in a couple of weeks...

A good friend of mine had both hips replaced years ago. He’s older than you and plays regularly. Go for it.
