Based on some reviews I checked out and a lot of feedback around here on Sub70, I decided to take the plunge.

I got fitted for either the Ping I59 head or Titelist T100 with the Nippon Modus Tour 120. I’m just not willing to shell out $2600 for that set up right now. The 659TC looks great and is toe weighted like the I59. Shaft upgrade was only $125 total for the whole bag, instead of $650. All in all it’s well below half the cost of what I was fitted for.

Hopefully I can provide some pretty good feedback on them within a couple of weeks. I’m officially apart of the cult.

I am wanting to go Sub70 route on my next new set of irons (next 2 years or so). Excuse the ignorance, but how did you get “fitted”?

Did you do the online height and club distance questionnaire? My fear is I won’t get put into the right club specs versus doing an in person fitting. I am not a pro by any means (~5HCP) and do like the 60 day money back guarantee. I travel to some of the cities that have in person fitting sites so that could be an option as well.

Appreciate any insight and hope you hit them long and straight!

ETA: or did you do a fitting in person for the other clubs you mentioned and kinda back into it that way with Sub70?

All my clubs except driver are sub70. I emailed their customer service email about what I was looking for. The owner Jason called me that night and we talked about my swing. Then he had me go to a launch monitor and take a picture of the averages of all my shots and send it to him. He called me again and went over everything with me with his recommendations.
I bought a hybrid from them about 2 weeks prior to this with a shaft that he said didn’t fit me. Even though the club was already made he changed out the shaft for free.

I am not a good golfer and don’t know much about golf mechanics. He made it very easy to get fitted over the phone. Love my clubs.

I got fitted by an actual club fitter. After seeing the. Prices I couldn’t justify the cost.

I contacted Sub70 and went through a few options that would be most comparable to my fitting. I’ll give them a shot and see how they feel. If it doesn’t work out I can send them back within a 60 day period.

Those 659TC’s look sweet. Have my eye on them too. Can’t wait to hear how you like them.
Did you try and demo them first?

Those TCs are gorgeous!!! If I didn’t love my OG 699 pros (black) I would order a set.
Congrats on the new set. Sub70 is an amazing company. I’ve spoken with Jason the CEO twice last year. The customer service is incredible. I just sent back the 849d driver. It wasn’t for me. I’ve got JB wedges in order.

I can’t oversell this company and their products.

They’re adding single length to their lineup as well.

I may do a combo set from them when they do. 5-6 in single length and the 7-pw in variable.

You will love the JB wedges. Switched to those this year and they spin the hell out of the ball. I had the TM MG2’s before. These don’t have the feel of the MG2’s, but the extra spin is noticeable. You can get a little more aggressive at the hole with the JB. I did lose a little distance with them on full shots, but that could be due to the extra spin.

Thanks for the review. I rarely hit wedges full, so that will not be a problem. I’m waiting on Sub70 to credit my account for the driver. Then, the wedges are coming for sure now!!

Update:
Placed the order on Friday Jan. 6, and they were through with production and shipped by Thurs. Jan 12. Already showed up to my house yesterday, so we are off to a great start.

Clubs look and feel outstanding. The milling on the bottom and back of the club looks great. I thought the top line on these would be slightly thinner, but I’m not mad at it. I feel super confident over them, and I feel like I can really feel the club face with a few practice swings. Heading over to my practice bay at lunch to hit a few clubs on foresight to get some carry distances. I’ll have some more updates this afternoon.
