You have to buy into the stock membership once 40? How much is the stock membership?

Depends. I’ve been a young executive member (ages 30-39 I think?) and a junior member since I joined in 2011. Existing members under 40 contribute $75 per month to a stock escrow account which covers your stock initiation fee when you turn 40. So I will not have to pay the initiation fee because I have enough in my escrow account. My membership rate will just increase to whatever stock is (595 or whatever it is with tax)

If you are a new member age 40+ joining, you have to join as a stock member and pay the $7,500 initiation.

Oakbourne seems more like a social experience and place to be seen in Lafayette.

The course and facilities at LeTriomphe are far superior IMO if your focus is golf.

I would somewhat agree and I've been a member at both. Oakbourne's average condition is higher than LT's.

Obviously nothing to do with Golf but the Tennis scene for those that play both is no comparison as Oakbourne has the best tennis scene in Lafayette. That definitely is a consideration for a small subsection of people. I also used to think LT was way further out there location wise compared to Oakbourne but really depends where you are. Feel like with all the members/money Oakbourne has pouring in they could make some upgrades to facilities and changes to practice area that would have it at least sniffing LT so I guess we will see what happens once LT is back up and running and pushes Oakbourne.

While your first statement is valid, I have to really disagree with you on the second. I enjoy LT's course as the layout is less difficult and is a fun course to play. They do have a nice driving range, chipping area, and putting green.

However the level of golf talent at OCC really emphasizes how golf-centric it is. You really won't find anyone there that is a "hack." Most of the membership are single-digit to scratch handicaps.

What really separates OCC is the golf tournaments though. LT's tournaments (do they even still have any?) are non-existent. OCC has the Evangeline 4-Ball, Member-Guest, Festival Scramble as the big 3 plus member only options with the Stroke Play Club Championship, Match Play Club Championship, and 6/6/6 format options 2x/year.

The best amateurs from all over the state come to play in the 4-Ball. It's one of the hardest fields to get in anywhere. 96 2-man teams and there's always a waitlist. The 5th and 6th flights have single digit HC players. The competition is insane.

All of this is true mostly.
Problem is Oakbourne is just not fun to play regularly.
And LT from the tips is very underrated.

But those greens are fire

Oakbourne is not fun to play for those who don’t know how to properly play golf. LT is for the JV golfers and Oakbourne is for the Varsity golfers.

Two great courses Lafayette is lucky to have both. LT is in great shape played it the other day greens are way better than Oakbourne right now.

Greens and tee boxes were really good

Fairways a little bare but not unexpected with how dry its been.

Played this am. Greens at LT are finest I’ve seen, and very soft considering the lack of rain.

We will see how they hold them over winter.
