Does anyone else regress terribly if they don’t play for a few weeks?

I didn’t play for almost a month and literally couldn’t make decent contact to save my life. Frustrating as hell!

I’m the opposite sometimes.

If I go to the range every other week my game will regress because I’m terrible at practice and just bash balls which will introduce bad habits in my swing.

When I get in that type of funk I take a month or so off and when I play next usually my bad habits have left and I just get back to basics of swing easy, tempo, etc

I realize to get better I need to practice consistently and do it the right way. Not just bash balls but actually have a plan when I’m at the range and specific things I’m working on but I just don’t have the time for that anymore. I’ll just be content hanging in the 6-8 hdcp range

I get the opposite .. Must be lack of expectations.. I hadn't played in almost 2 weeks and this past weekend I went out and posted two of my lowest scoring rounds in the past few months..

YES!...

I'm recovering from a hip replacement...played up until a month or so before the surgery, at that time the I couldn't play because of the pain...
right now it's going on to lil over 3 months only putting and light chipping (Dr;s orders) and I'm going stir crazy to begin making full swings...
I would imagine my game is wanting

Agree. Time off (couple of weeks) can sometimes give me time to flush out the bad thoughts.
I have several of my “all-time lows” after a break.
That being said, it is more challenging to regain my short game feel, which is my weak-link anyway.

At times, I regress between shots.

When I lay off for a week, sometimes I play better.

Golf is random.

How’s it going? I’ve had my left hip replaced 2018 and will need right in the next couple years. I practice, putt or play everyday. I’m an addict. Just started full on this year. I played 40 years ago but I was a waste.

going well, putting has definitely improved and the short game needed work as well. the Hip is doing amazing Dr Easton is the reason...
younger guys may be able to get back quicker if their health was good before the surgery...

for me, no full swings for another couple of weeks...

Good to hear. Dr Easton is the best. He did not do my first one but he will do my second one.

Golf for me is 100% a use it or lose it kind of thing.

Then again, there’s not really much for me to lose when dont play for a while anyway

Not really. But I’ve played for a long time, so it’s like riding a bike.

As you improve the thing that you end up losing is finesse.
