Does anyone have experience with this, positive or negative? My 8 year old son has expressed a big interest in golf and we have played a couple of 9 hole rounds and hit the range. He’s got a great swing but has a patchwork “set” of kids US Golf clubs- he only has a D, 3W and 6I. I’m thinking of cutting down my old AP2 set for him. Any suggestions or insight?

The weight may be too much for him.

I’m not a physics PhD, but all shafts have kick points, weight, and various characteristics that need to be fit to the players size and speed. The club head will be heavy for him as well.

US Kids is probably the best option. You can find decent used sets for various ages pretty easily online.

Ping builds kids clubs too.

Sounds like you two are spending quality time together and having fun. Having a full set of irons won’t change that. Learning to play with half a set might be good long term as far as discovering different ways to setup and swing various clubs to make different shots.

Don't cut down, the weight will ruin his natural motion. Keep moving up in US Kids and if he is stronger than average you can go to the Tour Series. If you want a real upgrade and he is showing a real interest, the PING Prodigy stuff if amazing. Good Luck, enjoy the ride!!!

Thanks for the feedback. I’m going to cut a couple and just see how it goes. Problem is I live in Dubai and the US Kids sets are insanely overpriced here. Maybe can get him a set of them when I get home this summer for some time.

Thanks again!

Wouldn’t recommend cutting them.
Adult clubs are almost 50grams heavier than us kids clubs. U.S. kids makes it pretty easy to order by height.

Also check out Flynn golf. My
9 year old plays these. Also make great shafts.

Can family ship stuff to you?

Can the company ship stuff to you?

Those heavy clubs may create some issues.

I cut down my Mizuno driver for son. Just made it stiffer which was good for him
