You are correct, first time for this event, and something we are planning on doing yearly moving forward.

I’ve never understood this.

Unrelated but have yall considered adding a driving range? Maybe something similar to Clarke? I don’t play Copper for this sole reason because I feel like the round is a waste without getting warmed up and dialed in properly.

There’s no real estate available for a range.

Copper could install mats and nets like web and it would be infinitely better
Fighting after the first round with improvement caps is fine
7 stroke improvement cap for a fourball is going to be filthy with sandbaggers taking calcutta money
If you require a GHIN, flight bt handicap and use both day scores. Split the calcutta to 2 day pay out will limit the sandbagging. Also use the "probability analysis" available through USGA to hold the standard against sandbagging

That would work. Could put them just right of the cart path before the current hitting area.

You could make the first hole a drivable par 4 (275 yds) and use the first half of the hole as a range. You’d lose the 6-6-6, but with a great high net, it can be done.

This is the way

If you plan to make this a yearly event, have to make sure the flights are fairly competitive. People will always come back for a competitive event they feel like they can win something.
Ive seen these tourneys go to the wayside quickly when sandbagging occurs for a 3K pot.

Im sure the homeowners along 1 fairway would just be ecstatic about that idea.
