"After 31 years, the PGA Tour informed the Chitimacha Louisiana Open last week that the tournament would not be a part of the Korn Ferry Tour’s 2023 and future schedules.

changes in the financial structure of professional golf brought about the decision. The Korn Ferry Tour will continue with a maximum 26-event schedule, with three new events replacing tournaments dropped from the 2022 schedule – along with the Louisiana Open, the Lake Charles Championship and the Live and Work in Maine Open in Falmouth, Maine.

I mean, it sounds like from a commercial standpoint they don't want to go to Maine and two small Louisiana towns. It sucks for those markets, but this seemingly has nothing to do with LIV and is being used as a convenient excuse

Yea I’m sure it’s just a coincidence that it happened now.

As I said, it's an awfully convenient time to use that as your reason.

KFT events are moved all the time. If they are still playing the same number of events how can you blame this on LIV? I guess you could say that want to move the events to larger markets that are under utilized by the Tour, but that's a pretty weak argument, imo.

I am literally just taking the Louisiana Open executive director at his word that “changes in the financial structure of professional golf brought about the decision.”

You on the other hand are interpreting the article to fit the narrative you already believe to be true.

Yeah, the KFT wants to not have to put on a tournament where the logistics are expensive and/or nearly impossible.

You're, similarly, taking a guy who has a clear bias and vested interest at his word. As always, the truth almost certainly lies somewhere in the middle.

Jones said the Louisiana Open budget was about $500,000 short of where the PGA Tour wants its Korn Ferry Tour events.

“The long and short of it, the Korn Ferry Tour has outgrown the Lafayette and Acadiana market,” he said. “We exhausted every option to keep the event here locally, but unfortunately, this decision was made by the PGA Tour for what they feel is best for the future of their tour.

Strange that the tournament made financial sense right up until this year.

Unfortunate for Lafayette and Acadiana that their small markets were fine until this year where they are too small.

They are now requiring a minimum of $2 million in sponsorship for Korn Ferry events according to an email sent out this morning before the press release

But you don't know if those are true. They were likely under contract until this year. Maybe the KFT has been counting down until thr contract expired knowing the had bigger markets asking about events.

Weak, I tried to Monday qualify a couple of times. This is part of the PGA Tour's move to a unitour. Look at the field this week in California, it's a PGA Tour event in name but sure looks like Korn Ferry.

That's been the case for at least 5 years. Rahm and Phil played it because they're agency runs the event, but that's about it. Some of the California guys play it because it's close, but the fall series events have been bad since they started.
