Yes they did renovate Shoal a couple of years ago. The changes are fantastic.

I haven't been down there since November. Will miss out this trip South, which is too bad. But will be there in April.

Hey Halifax!

Coming to play Cabot Links in June and couldn't be more excited! how do you like it up there. Also, if you're coming down for a few days, I would recommend checking out English Turn and Money Hill-both way better than Metairie CC.

He wants to play a golden age Raynor course that’s why he wants to play MCC.

I've lived here most of my life. Hate the weather, otherwise it's good.

You will love Cabot. It's legit. Let me know if you are spending any time in Halifax and I can help you out.

Uhh, No. You might not get it, but English Turn is most certainly not a better designed golf course than Metairie CC. Metarie’s green sites and bunkering are genius. And it’s way more fun to play than ET.

ET is just everything that was wrong about 80’s/90’s penal golf course design where the priority was the real estate bordering the golf course.

Do some reading on Seth Raynor, the architect of Metairie CC, and you’ll get an education on what a good golf course should be.

Money Hill is a really good golf course. Not gonna argue about that one.

Hey Folks,

Trip is coming up and I am psyched. Daughter and I have been working on our golf games and getting ready. Here is the rough itinerary:

Arrive Tuesday, March 19 - Drive to Baton Rouge via River Road, do a tour at Houma House, eat at Roberto's.

Wednesday - Play LSU University Club, tour LSU, see Mike the Tiger, attend the LSU baseball game, supper at Chimes;

Thursday - Drive to Lafayette to watch friend play opening round of the Chitimacha Louisiana Open, dinner with him - crawfish boil at LT's or somewhere else Cajun.;

Friday - drive back to NOLA, golf (course TBD), supper at Commander's;

Saturday - Golf at Bayou Oaks, NOLA touring and eating;

Sunday - Golf (place TBD), NOLA eating and touring, Pelicans vs. Rockets;

Monday - fly back to Nova Scotia.

NOLA golf will depend on Metairie CC. Hoping that works out. If so, thinking other will be Audubon. If it doesn't work out will look at the other suggestions, which I greatly appreciate.

If you are serious about this. I don’t know what to tell you. The course at ET is light years better than Metairie.

I may be playing there that day. I will most certainly be in town. Let’s grab a beer while you’re in

Tell him to get ready for ground under repair everywhere. We just finished an extensive irrigation project that ran longer than expected with all the rain this winter. There are trench repairs on every hole.

I will definitely tell him. South has been getting killed with rain. Sound like you are making good investment in your course.

When do you normally play out there? I have a regular game on Saturday mornings with a great group, but I am the youngest guy by like 30 years.

I’m from Thibodaux and not a Raynor fan, but I could pretend to be one for 5-6 hours

Hey Folks - Great recommendations and advice. Much appreciated. I don’t plan to involve my pro to call Metairie CC, as he helped me out very recently. If anyone is still interested, I’ll look for post. No pressure we can play elsewhere. Thanks again.

Cheers.

You should try Joe Bart in New Orleans. It’s great value and better service than Bayou Oaks

I was pleasantly surprised last time I played Joe Bart about a month back.

honestly, the service is good...the clubhouse is very nice and the course is long and decent. Its well worth 41 bucks on a saturday (with cart)

Write the Metairie CC an email and tell him you’d like to play and why.
You’d be surprised they may let you on.
