Any and all opinions welcomed on Callaway Steelhead XR Pro irons. Looking at lightly used set being sold locally. TIA

If price is an issue which I’m guessing it is, just save up money to get a better set even it means waiting a year.

Check out the Callaway preowned website. Anything they describe as very good or better will be practically brand new.

True. Often times you're taking the plastic off a club that has never been hit that they label "like new" and sell at deep discount. CPO will often run flash sales too. Check out the site and find a couple sets of irons you like in your specs and follow them daily. You'll find a deal.

They were originally priced at $325 and got it down to $300. Used a few times by an old timer at the club. Going test out later, but will probably purchase them.

I bought them when I started playing 2 years ago as a starter set and I still use them. I'm down to an 11 handicap now and I always told myself when I got to 10 I would reward myself and actually get fitted and get nicer clubs so I'll have them until then.

They're not bad but they're also the only clubs I've ever owned so I don't have much of a reference point.

Just an FYI, Callaway Pre-owned is practically giving away the Mavrik line of hybrids today. Mavrik Pro hybrids selling for under $112, like new (which are brand new). That's about half price from what you can find in Mint at 2nd Swing.

That Mav Pro hybrid is like swinging a cheat code. Up, up, down, down, left, right, left right, B, A, Start.

Those were the clubs I played for several years. They were my first new set of clubs. Nothing wrong with them but also nothing special. What is your golf status? New or have you been at it a bit? They’ll be good clubs to cut your teeth on. But if you have a set and youre looking to upgrade a bit, I’d consider to continue saving and get something a little nicer.

The problem I had with the clubs weren’t the clubs themselves but they weren’t fit to me. The lie angle was made for someone a little shorter. I hit toe heavy a lot

Callaway preowned is incredible. I ordered a 3 wood that was listed as “good” and it was practically new.
