No

even though less than the PGA.

Did he? He played in 22 tournaments this year. His last year on tour? 20

He hasn’t played more than 22 tournaments since 2016. He played 23 events that year. So no, he isn’t playing less golf. He’s locked into every LIV event, plays every major, and plays a handful of DPWT events. That’s not a lighter schedule. And it’s way more travel, which was always going to be the case with LIV players. And the ones who don’t have major exemptions, they play in even more events to try to qualify for majors.

The schedule is getting more weighted towards overseas events and going to a 72 hole format. So y'all are both kind of correct.

2023 schedule: 9/14 events in North America
2024 schedule: 8/14 events
2025 schedule: 7/14 events
2026 schedule: 6/14 events & you’re either traveling or away from home practically all of February & March

It’s obviously evolved over the years

Doesn’t he have some status for winning 2023 PGA Championship? After his 1 year suspension ends in August of 2026, I think he could reapply for membership.

Don’t forget that he is boys with Jay Monahan

I don’t disagree with that but over 1/3 of their events their first year were overseas as well. That’s a lot of travel and a worldwide tour was one of the central themes of LIV. Any of those guys who really thought they’d have more free time was either lying to themselves to justify leaving the tour or just naive. And it wasn’t just international travel, it was loooong international travel to Asia and Australia. When you live in America, that’s not a trip you want to making several times during a season

I also think an issue always was they had to play in every event. They couldn’t just pick and choose which events they wanted to play like they could in the PGA. So if they were burned out and needed a break, withdrawing from a tournament just wasn’t an option.

I thought the rule was winning a tournament got you a 2 year exemption for status. Wouldn’t that expire in 2025?

Regardless, Jay has suspended guys like Wesley Bryan for playing in a YouTube match with LIV. The PGA would honestly have to lift the suspensions of everyone if they let Koepka play immediately.

I said once his 1 year suspension ends in August of 2026

Not sure if this has been updated, but apparently PGA Championship winner gets a 5 year exemption to PGAT.

quote:

In line with the other majors, winning the PGA gains privileges that improve career security. PGA champions are automatically invited to play in the other three majors and The Players Championship for the next five years, and are eligible for the PGA Championship for life. They also earn a five-year exemption on the PGA Tour and a seven-year membership on the DP World Tour.

Don't forget.. LIV tournaments are 3 rounds.

LIV rounds if playing 22 tournaments: 66
PGA rounds if playing 20 tournaments and making cuts: 80
