Harold’s definition of ‘in the works’ is no different than all the other ‘in the works’ plans over the last several years.
He needs ‘investors’ to sink money in it so they can try to buy the land from current ownership and turn it back into a golf course.
I have a better chance of catching a roadie in my ‘92 Miata whilst driving down magnolia lane than the bluffs recovering from its current situation.

Just…..
Sell it to the Felicianas and let it be a parish(es) course. Lots of folks have moved to the 2 parishes. Tax money is the only option.

Harold was looking for 35 investors at $250K per.
Callicut took folks money and ran. Literally disappeared
The data center that could have brought money to the parish appears to have been screwed up by the parish president. Hope was that would bring enough money to reinvigorate the course.
At this point, needs a multi millionaire who wants their own private course.

That initial investment would get the course repaired and back open for play. It’s the upkeep after that 2-3 year timeframe that would need substantial play just to break even.

Raising Canes Country Club or Get Gordon National has a nice ring to it....

And he’s not the first person to do this.
People must not like money like I do. There’s be bullets flying at skulls if people did that shite to me.

Id be fully supportive of the bluffs sponsored by raising cane's
The right answer probably is the felicianas getting involved and use tax support to bring in more tourism.
Neighborhood is still on point atleast

Can get a great deal on well built houses up there. Just very remote.
I don’t think, even combining both parish’s, that there’s enough revenue to support a golf course.

False river CC some how stays open. The drive to N BR from bluffs is steady half hour no problem. Much more peaceful than i12 to baton rouge from LP

It depends on what kind of course.
If people want a pristine layout with manicured bunkers and landscaping filled with azaleas, then no, tax support won’t help.
But you can have a clean track, no bunkers or azaleas and decent greens with nice views and topography with tax money.
You do what you can do.

False River CC is privately owned by someone with DEEP pockets and they have some members that are very well off. They also have a ton of farmers as members that have no problem cutting a check or donating equipment as a write off.

Are you sure this is true? I didn’t think he took anyone’s money yet. He was using an inheritance. When the money talks started coming nobody could agree on ownership. But I do not know that as fact.

Was at the main clubhouse a few weeks ago, our daughter’s rehearsal dinner will be there in May. Looked great. The bar on the creekside of building was in ready-to-use condition. Entire building in good shape. They are hosting events there now.
As I understand it, the first payment was made in June, the second due in Jan 25, then a year for the third payment. Have heard nothing about grounds work and see no evidence of activity.
But the fond memories of post-round bet settling in the bar or a Friday night burger and beer, not to mention many dinners in dining room a few decades ago…I know it is a long, long shot (like me reaching 9 in two or birdieing 17!) but oh how I wish it could be returned to the Bluffs of past.
Anybody remember the club tournament about 10 years ago that featured former pro Brian Bateman - beat Tiger at 07 Buick - and a local guy that was a glorious, tense finish over final 4 holes?! Truly epic! 50 or more carts and hundred or so people around 17 and 18? Long, winding down hill off camber birdie for the win! Brian was stellar but local guy won.

Well now you got me really wanting the course back open
Posted on 11/12/24 at 7:15 pm to RoosterCogburn585
Best layout in a state totally devoid of quality golf! Afghanistan has better golf

It’s a small step, but not nothing. The course is being fully mowed. Some holes have been maintained by homeowners with zero-turn, so those holes still look like a golf course. Many holes had grown well over 6 feet in brush…all are being mowed.
Insert Jim Carey’s “so you’re saying there’s a chance?!”

Unfortunately my assumption is that the home owners are mowing them because it’s winter and the grass will stay short until spring. I pray to God I’m wrong though and that it means some work on the course will follow.

Harold had a guy come out with a batwing bushhog and cut all the holes that home owners haven't maintained.
The cedar weed was brutal on some holes and needs a good rotting and several mowing before the bermuda can take back over.
Tractor rutted some spots pretty bad but atleast it looks like a course again for investors who may be interested.
Harold is going for the whole enchilada out the gate. I'd prefer a phased approach but he has been successful before. Maybe he will again

Original developer of the course. Worked with Arnold to design and develop it from just woods. He bougjt the course back and has plans to restore it to original plans
