Who here uses it for putting and why do you use it?

ETA: Where's some good resources on how to pick this up? I am seeing Aimpoint and Aimpoint Express. Looking to add some routine to my putting for consistency.

My buddy that played in college used it. He said it works pretty good if you do it right. He used the Express, and he learned from a teachig pro that was a certified teacher of it or whatever.

go buy a battery operated level, I bought mine at home depot, you need that to see the degree of slope. You will feel the slope with your feet I printed out the chart but cant find it, I stopped using it, went back to it, I rarely miss on the low side anymore,

You place a level on the green when you putt?

I'm not sure that's legal.

Some would call it wildly illegal, but what do I know.

Used aimpoint express for a while. I still mostly use my feet to feel the break , but I don't use the fingers in front of the face anymore to pick a target. Instead i combine what my feet and eyes are telling me, pick a target and putt. Learning to use my feet definitely helped me be a better putter.

Only when you practice.

From what I gather, you use the level on the practice green to get a "feel" for varying degrees of slope. iphone Compass has a slope gauge on it for those not wanting to go buy a level.

Went and played Beaver Creek this morning and tinkered with it for the first time. It was pretty windy today so my approach game wasnt as good as I would've liked. I am a TERRIBLE putter and usually putt 36+ x a round (shoot in the mid to upper 80s). I putted 31 times today and only 3 putted once. My first putt were much closer to the hole than usual. I left a few putts out there as well when I got lazy and didn't use the system (Or what I know of it so far). I found myself guessing on a few holes on how many fingers.

Couple of questions for you Ole Man. Do you use an alignment mark on top of the ball with Aimpoint, or do you just feel your way through the putt? I tried 50/50 and when looking at the line, I pulled them because I knew the hole was left of the line. When I didnt use the line, I was much more reliant on the feel but as a result, left some to high and they zipped passed the hole. Also, speed. Is there some form of formula for speed?

Thanks.

Speed is feel. If you always, always keep the same tempo, you can control speed inside of 20 feet with how far back you pull the putter. The more you do it and the more consistent you are with it, the better your control will be. It's the main thing your should focus on when putting before a round: getting the speed right into and down grain, up and down slopes. Getting comfortable and confident putting has always been my biggest weakness.

Yes, I use the line on the ball after I get my line where I think th line is I align my putter shaft with the line on the ball to see if my line is right

Another thing you do is the length of your arm, the slower the green your arm is fully extended, faster greens, you have to shorten your arm Most of the greens around here probly run 8-10

That's what I was looking for. Thanks!

Update - played Santa Maria today and the greens are incredibly awesome right now. They were fast and rolling pure. Also extremely consistent. Putted alot better than usual today and I attribute it to using a system.

For those that struggle on the green, consider picking up/using part of this for at least the consistency part. It's not a magical gimme every putt type system, but it is great at getting consistent routine and easy to adjust to. I am a believer in the parts of it that I know.

Bottom line, it gave me confidence to aim a bit further out that usual and stick with it. By the 3rd hole I had a solid grasp of what each green was doing and made adjusting easier because I was doing the same thing for each green.
