Xbox one x digital download question

So apologies for what I’m sure is a dumb question, but I’m debating on whether or not I should just purchase the Modern Warfare digital copy, or the physical disc. My question is if I purchase the digital copy is that game then permanently linked to my Xbox account? So I can delete it, upgrade Xbox and then redownload it in the future? I think that’s the case, because my xbone s came with a digital copy of battlefield 1, I wiped the system and sold it, and purchased the xbone x and redownloaded the game. I just wanted to double check and make sure that’s how digital downloads worked for Xbox.
Also, are there advantages to one over the other (physical disc vs. dig. download), assuming I have plenty of HD space. I’ve always just bought physical games in the past, and I don’t play regularly enough to have an opinion.

Yes its linked to your account. So you can upgrade and redownload.
I haven't bought a physcial copy in forever, but i figure the biggest advantage for physical is being able to sell it later on.

Perfect. That’s what I needed to know.
If resale is the biggest factor in purchasing a physical disc I’ll likely just switch to digital downloads from here on too. Not too concerned about selling it on in the future. Mainly was just curious if one had technical advantages over the other ie smoother operation, quicker load times, fewer glitches, etc.

If your internet connection or Xbox live goes out you will need to set your Xbox as the home Xbox and go into offline mode. Just realized this a few weeks ago went Live went down and I could not access any downloaded games.
