If this thing has multiple 7970 level chips, be prepared for a $600 console that uses 800W of power and sounds like a jet engine.
this is exactly what i was thinking...

Have they said anything about the cooling system?

The next gen consoles will have GFX up to date with PCs but will be able to max out TVs and monitors for a long while to come.
Any mention of framerate?
60fps needs to be the minimum for the next gen consoles. Its all dependent on the developers I guess and how they spread out the resources of the system, but a 4096x2160 resolution doesn't matter if the game is still running at 30fps like this gen.

There are lots of games in the current gen that reach 60fps. Like you said that's more on the developers and what they utilize.

Yes there are, but most games are not. Like I said, 4096x2160 resolution doesn't matter if the games are at 30fps.
Sony/ MS need to set a minimum framerate IMO.

IMO you can't tell a distinguishable difference between 30fps with proper motion blur and 60fps. As long as games look smooth and aren't choppy I don't care what a developer does.

I think I'd have an easier time understanding this....

I politely disagree. I think 30fps even with motion blur is quite noticeable. I can play any game for a couple minutes and tell you if it is 30 or 60.
Call me a snob if you want.

Agreed. Just say the graphics are going to be awesome so I can get excited about the next generation.

They will be great but I am just curious how long it will take developers to reach the full potential of the next systems. If you remember when the current systems came out the graphics weren't nearly as nice as they are now and it's the same hardware from 6/7 years ago. Sony said that developers just really reached the full potential of the PS3 in the last few years.

That's when it started freezing and shite too

I don't think the permanent Internet connection would be bad for people who already have Xbox live, but I think they're going to have a harder time attracting new customers. You're going to have to have a good internet connection and better TV to really get any use out of them.

think about super mario bros. vs. super mario bros. 3

This could lead to an increasing number of consoles being "jailbroken," a la the iPhones and such. When a company tries to put more and more limits on its products, consumers will always find a way around it...especially when it comes to electronics.
It 100% will lead to more jailbroken consoles, and consequently maybe even more piracy.

yeah, it'll be jailbroken within a month of release. book it.

Yeah. A great example of this is Skyrim and oblivion. Completely different graphically, but on the same system.
It all depends on the architecture of the system tho. The cell chip, for example, on the PS3 was not fully utilized until recently because of the complexity.

I mean, their target demographic at this point mostly has internet and a nice TV.
They aren't targeting hardcore gamers anymore. They are going after casual gamers/media users.
Even still, most hardcore gamers have both a nice TV and internet.
