Why the gaming media sucks according to Forbes.com

There are dozens of other examples of games that reviewers fawned over when they came out but were slowly relegated to the “yeah, it was kind of bad” pile over the months that followed. I’m not saying I’m better, or that being too nice or enthusiastic is the worst problem in the world. But the conflict surrounding Mass Effect 3 has shown that reviewers aren’t really doing their job in the consumer equation. And if games want the respect that they’re always saying they deserve, games writers are going to have to help.

That doesn't even make sense.

People who have unquestioning loyalty to a particular franchise are hardly objective game review authorities.......moron

I'm having a hard time believing most game reviewers are unwavering fans. I was going to propose they're on the payroll.
But I have several friends that all about ME3. Personally, I don't play it, but I heard the ending is fail.

Most? Let me check my original post of 4 words where I said most......hmmmmm. Nope.
While I'd argue they some nerd reporter being on the take for a gaming developer/corp is a fanboi in one way or another, you can't tell me that ask the glowing reviews given to a game like ME3 when the real product is less then desirable isn't a case of over zealous fans who happen to be writers.

This article doesn't suggest that fanboys would be better reviewers either. It just says that reviews don't match up with consumer opinions, which is odd.

I guess said writers are just "over zealous fans" when it comes to every other major title, too?

You can't be as dumb as your responses lead one to believe.
Why would they not? Are they not playing the game and relying on company press releases? Are they lying? Or maybe the reviews that are glaringly misleading are written by people with less then objective opinions?
Which is more believable?

You don't my feeling bro.
However, I think the best "reviews" come from YouTube honestly. The common man giving his opinion on a game. I've tried a few games that I wouldn't have even thought to have purchased, as is true for the opposite, because of guys on YouTube.

No. What Forbes is getting at is like "IGN" hypes a game like "Halo:Reach" because if its successful they rake in the $$$ for advertising. A much more lower budgeted title would get less bias.

Instead of trying to layer my replies with flamebait like you do, I'll get to the point.
Aggregate reviewers in other mediums usually don't have overly positive scores on things that are panned by consumers. They aren't being "fanbois" but instead have other motives which are tied into something else, maybe advertising.

Never said that..
If you are going to type words and try to attribute them to me I'd appreciate If you'd atleast make them intelligent.
TIA

My point in making that assumption was to highlight the fact that you, too, are relying solely on your own assumption. And seeing as how you have nothing to rely on but your own assumptions, it's interesting that you take the attitude of a smug prick.
Also, I didn't quote anything you didn't specifically type and I posed my statement in the form of a question. So where was I attributing to you things you didn't write? If you're going to participate in this conversation, please take a refresher on common grammatical structure and context clues.

Gaming media sites are whores to large publishers.
And what's with all the name calling? Can we have a thread without sounding like nine year olds?

So you are saying that all game reviewers are not fans at all but are motivated by money? Wow that's a very general condemnation on a wide range of reviewers. But if that's your opinion.
Posted on 3/22/12 at 6:09 pm to hypnos
I think most reviewers just don't have enough time with the games, and its the publishers' fault. The reviewers generally get their review copies just a couple of weeks (at most) before release
ETA: Having said that, the review sites really aren't under any obligation to post their reviews as soon as they do. But they post them when the game is brand new to generate more traffic
