I’ve googled and I still don’t understand how to get this to work.

I have an Xbox X set as my home Xbox. I put my old Xbox one upstairs for the kids. But for some reason I can’t play both at the same time. I set up a new gamer tag and Microsoft account for my son. I have his Account home Xbox setup as the Xbox X downstairs so he can use the games. But every time he tries to play while im playing, it kicks one of us out.

Anyone know how to do this?

Does this mean you try to play LAN games or when you both try to play online?

If it's online, then you will need two Xbox Gold memberships so two can get on at once

The Home XBox must be set on the one that does not have the purchased games or in other words not the main account. The home XBox must have both ID's on it (the one that has the purchased games or main account and the other one that does not). The Home XBox just needs to sign in using the non-main account.

Do what TheChiznit said.

Just know that if you don't have restrictions on your kids account, they likely can play online, etc.

turn on both boxes..Sign into (1) with your account, set it as home..Sign your kids onto it, its now theirs...
(2) sign your kids onto the other box, set it as their home..sign yourself into it..That one is now yours...

we have been doing this since its been possible with zero issues...The games that you buy will transfer between each box

Right now, xbox x is my xbox. It has all the games on it. I am signed into that xbox. I had it setup the way you stated, but the kids couldn't get access to the games on my xbox x, from their xbox (xbox one). I googled, and it said to make their xbox (xbox one), to set their home to the xbox X. (for clarity i will refer to xbox X as X, and xbox one as 1).

I'm still a little confused so tell me if this is correct. I have 1 xbox ultimate subscription linked to BugAC account.

1) BugAC account signed into X. Set X as BugAC account "home.
2) Kids account/profile setup on X.
3) Kids account/profile sign in on 1. Set 1 as their "home".

I'm confused by this step.

You want yours to be their home and theirs to be your home..its tough to explain what I mean..You AND them need to be signed into both..

My X is my sons home, his S is my home..he plays my games, we play COD, etc at the same time ..You sign into each others once, the last person signed in SHOULD NOT BE ON THEIR HOME..

ok, so my X is my home, and i need to switch it to theirs.

ok, so if i set my home to the 1, and their home to the X. Then they sign in on their 1, and i sign in to the X, then this should work.

Thanks for the help, BTW. I'll try this, this evening when i get in.

Well that didn’t work. And I only have 2 more times I can set my home Xbox.

I did everything you stated. Kids were on the 1 with their profile. The X is set as their home Xbox.
I was on the X under my profile. Their one set as my home Xbox. When I try to start playing anything it says someone is already playing on the one. Only 1 person can play at a time.

if they are trying to play downloaded games from the store, like through gamepass, then they will need two xbox gold subs

if they can play the games without you on, then its not an xbox issue.

if the issue arises when you try to play online as well, then it's an xbox gold account issue

Even for the downloaded game, you HAVE to be on the internet. If you download a game, disconnect internet, you will not be able to play it through gamepass

It's hard to visualize through text, but once you've done it the first time you'll realize how easy this actually is to do. There are YouTube videos out there if you need to see someone do it.

1. You need to log in to their XBox, make that YOUR MAIN ACCOUNT'S "home" XBox, and then sign out.

That's it. Now anyone can play the games you own on that machine while logged into whatever account they want to use. If they own games on their other accounts, they can play those on that XBOX as well.

2. From your Xbox, you simply sign in with your account. Don't make it your home. You can then play any of the games you own on that machine as long as you are signed in, and now you can all play on both machines simultaneously.

3. If your kids own any games on their own accounts you could also make YOUR XBox THEIR home XBox (and then sign then our, like in step one), so you can play those games on the XBox you actually use.

Nah this isn't true. Only the OP's account needs Gold. My kids are able to download any Game Pass games they want on the console they use as long as it is set as my account's home XBox, and I can still download games on the XBox I use as long as my account is signed in on that machine and is not signed in to the other machine at the same time.

not sure whats not working, as I have done this for years, even changing to newer boxes from doing it originally..

the only thing I can think of is for you to make sure you set each others boxes as home..then make sure you are both signed into both..then sign out of the one you don't want to play on...feel free to @gmail me if you need

This appears to be the issue. Thanks.

How can you sign into both systems at once? Or are you talking about making sure both profiles are on both systems?
