well, devious was actually pretty cool about it, but i take it you feel like i do about the situation being it's with a co-worker and all...

Do you actually see this girl very often at work? If not, I don't see a problem with dating. I guess if you are constantly interacting with her on a daily basis, then it could be a problem.

I would honestly say this is ok to be dating, just my 2 cents. Sounds like she isn't close enough in the same company to make a difference with you two being involved. Ask her out for some drinks, worst case scenario you get turned down.. no biggie.

Easiest thing, besides stalking her, is to just ask her if she would like go out sometime whenever she drops by to chat. She says no, then you no. As long as you aren't in the friend zone. You'd be surprised how many girls will actually be into you, but will never really hint at it, and afterwards, "I wanted you to ask me out for such a long time...".
