No Man’s Sky
Fallout 76 (didn’t play but damn what a disaster)
MGSV The Last Jedi
Far Cry Primal
Watch Dogs 2
Assassin’s Creed Unity
Alien Colonial Marines (didn’t play)
SimCity (2013)
Ride to Hell Retribution (first Angry Joe video I remember watching, didn’t play)

Can't believe it's 4 pages in and not a mention of ...
Star Citizen
Maybe no mention since it's still not a game ... yet

Because hardly anyone is actually mentioning the "worst" games. Just the ones that hurt their feelings.

it scores high on pretty much every review site
Also I'll add the Battle for Azeroth WoW expansion to this. Everything from launch to the actual content was a giant clusterfrick. Completely killshot any momentum Legion had built up.

I'm exhausted from preaching this from the mountain tops.
Same with tech journalists.

I agree with this. This is the only Assassin's Creed game that I simply tried to finish instead of complete. It was odd to have an Assassin's Creed game with a nonsensical story.

I don't believe in the "paid" as much but you know this is true Sic.
They have a few sites, YouTubers who aren't influenced.
But the "bigger guys", do usually have studio bias and/or just dumb.

I won't say it NEVER happens, but after following Giant Bomb for so long, you just have to accept the fact that some people just see games differently than you and even though it makes no sense to you at all, there are some that can look at a game like Mass Affect Andromeda and have nothing but great stuff to say about it.
I'm the biggest Ubisoft fan out there, and it annoys me when people will play, for example, Far Cry 5 and say "just more Far Cry" even though I feel with every game they evolve it in a way that makes it more engaging. Sure you still have the big open world map barfs and outposts to take out, but how they incorporate new vehicles, new partner systems, new ways of level progression. Even with New Dawn you had to collect certain herbs and plant life in order to revive your NPC partner if they went down.
But I'm probably an apologists and someone thinks I'm crazy, but I just love those games.

No doubt.
GiantBomb has a good mix of variety with their reviewers. Maybe more should be interjected, but you can only keep so many employees on the payroll.
Maybe its things like RoosterTeeth, etc.
My disdain for "reviewers" really comes from the tech side. Most of these guys making $100-500K are unworthy to speak on the tech. They almost all have a misunderstanding of the tech at a fundamental level.

Ubisoft is oddly one of the best companies out there, weird when you compare to 3-5yrs ago.
That take on FarCry I hear you. I'm a Far Cry fan and put hours running around those worlds. They are evolving and moving forward.
A review like that are from reviewers who, 1) didn't play the game, or 2) didn't play the previous games.

If you ever talk to Gardoki again, ask him about how unceremoniously Bloodborne got dismissed from GB's GOTY list in 2015. That's when he stopped caring about their lists. Same for me and Horizon Zero Dawn in 2017.

I don't agree with most of their selections.
I enjoy listening to their debates though, always good hearing ppls reasons.
I'm sorry but I agree with that HZD choice. Something about the story progression or gameplay always took the breath out of HZD. It is an amazing game, but just something I can never put my finger on, keep it out my Top10 this decade.

Going back and playing it, I can see it has it's flaws, but I still love it's story and and I was hooked on it all the way through.

I love the story. Sometimes I even fall asleep to HZD story and lore videos.
When you finally put everything which happened together, which is early, you are like oh shtt.
I need to finish the DLC.

Has anyone mentioned the DayZ standalone?

It was a must "next step" with the hacking in the mod.
But they never developed, it is more a "disappointment" that douche Rocket was just a big dildo.
They actually have a good product out there now, just a little too late.

**Slight spoiler on a almost 3 year old game**
The thing I was most intrigued at from the beginning was "if they made this effort to save their knowledge and technology, why are they living in a primitive society". Then to see it came down to one person making one decision, holy shite.
It was a pretty shitty thing to do.......but I understood where he was coming from in a sense.
Then the last scene of her finding the body of her "mother" and seeing what the metal flowers were all about was really satisfying.

Lol no they don't. The community mods help, but BI doesn't deserve any credit for it.
