This is how we got Skolas down. Fairly quickly when it worked too.
We had one of each character Titan for bubble. Hunter for invis. Warlock for self res (if needed}.
Titan bubble is key. Needs to be weapons of light and have the"illuminated" bubble highlighted. Also any high impact arc sniper (or patience and time) and arc rockets. Gally works but arc has the burn.
When you go into the arena run all the way to the left to where the white servitor is. Have the titan drop the bubble near the column where the dregs come out right after the other two take out the servitor. make sure everyone moves through the bubble to receive the benefits of it.
Then head shot Skolas until the bonds are broken. Snipe first then rockets. If your quick enough you can have him down to a quarter health before the mines pop up.

You can do or that or you can do what I did. I beat him by myself and found this out accidentally.
Run towards the front where the two White Servitors are and to the left of them is a black portal. Jump in and blast away at Skolas.
For some reason he knows you are in there but won't fire and you can unload on him until he dies.
Literally took me 2 or 3 minutes. Hope this helps!

hey this vault that hasn't been opened in forever, let's open it and go inside leaving the door wide the frick open. knowing the fallen are swarming all around and you're leaving the only way in or out wide the frick open as you go in.
CLOSE THE frickING DOOR BEHIND YOU IDIOT!!! frick, every fricking time. blows my mind they didn't think of it. oh that's right, it would take away the drama of the game if they closed the door.

I think I actually mixed this one up with another mission. I am talking about the Queen's Ransom mission where you have to capture him alive on Venus.
