I knew 7 was going to be a shitshow I had no idea it was going to be as bad as it is. Every civilization essentially resets with every age, all your work is for nothing The culture-change-with-era mechanic was stolen from the game "Humanity", which actually does it better 6 was pretty solid Go with 6
This. 7 changed the formula for some reason and it doesn’t make sense. The developers announced recently that they’re offering the “classic” version of gameplay in an upcoming update so I’d wait until that gets released before checking out 7

In their defense, I think this is a case of listening to their players too much. Most Civ players will tell you that the early and mid game are the most fun, while the end game tends to be a drag. So the devs basically said "huh, what if we made the entire game early/mid game on repeat..."

cannot even get past building one wonder in civ 7, civ 6 much much better. almost an entirely different game. hopefully the series isn't ruined

Make the late game more interesting. Make the space launch manifest a new planet to colonize. Could have it basically become MOO. Make the one-world government you created have to address NWO issues.
There are so many ways to address it, and they went with:
What has sold well?
Humanity!
Do that, but worse!

I don’t disagree with anything you said. I was simply responding to the idea that it was some random change. It may be stupid and/or poorly executed, but it wasn’t random
