I'm on the right side of history with this Nintendo bros
Switch 2 will sell minimum 75m consoles in it's lifetime. It will be another success, maybe not as much as the Switch, but you're talking about a Top 3 console all time.
Nintendo will be fine.

Folks appear to be oddly invested in predicting Nintendo's failure. It's super weird.
When MS makes a new XBox announcement, IDGAF. I don't connect with their platform and haven't since the OG XBox. The folks who go out of their way to talk about how they think various Nintendo properties or hardware are garbage make no sense to me.

Considering the consolidation of their handheld and console offerings, I would think that roughly halving sales from OG switch would be a failure.
I'm on the wait and see camp. Lots of very questionable decisions about Switch 2 (no OLED screen, worse battery life than Switch 1, $80 games), but as long as the quality is there, it'll find some type of audience.

What people don't get is Nintendo is extremely sound financially. They don't have any debt and they keep large cash reserves. That's why they can have a mega flop generation like the Wii-U and keep going strong.
A ton of companies are up to their eyeballs in debt and if they hit a bump they are on the verge of bankruptcy.

This is eminently true, but there's an emotional component behind all of the snarktastic hot takes that some folks employ when rushing to call a time of death on Nintendo.
They're the very definition of success stories when it comes to first party properties.
Microsoft has been at this 25 years and they have... Master Chief and who else?
Even Sony has become reliant on third party titles.
Nintendo doesn't need a single third party game to do much of anything that would move the needle like one of their tentpole properties getting a new mainline release.
Mario
Zelda
Metroid
Animal Crossing
Super Smash Bros
Mario Kart
Pokemon
Fire Emblem
Splatoon
Nobody has characters & games in house that come even close. And that's coming from someone who used to own all the systems.

I don't care what other people think, it's a day one buy at my house.

Same. Already signed up on Nintendo's site for the bundle.
I still have a backlog of Switch games i haven't started, so might as well have the 2 ready for better performance when I finally get some free time.

Same here. The only thing that I find curious is that Nintendo isn't sending out preorder emails until a solid month after all of the other retailers are saying they're taking preorders on April 9.
Right now, Best Buy's midnight pickup and Walmart's 9am delivery are pretty sweet.

I'm not so concerned about all that. As long as I can pick it up the morning of, I'm good.

I should clarify - The concern is what the delivery time would be on the direct-from-Nintendo order, when there are clearly options to have it in hand before daylight/noon on June 5.

Oh got ya. Yeah I think third party is the way to go.

Forgot Kirby, donkey Kong, Luigi mansion games.
I don’t think we had a single third party game in the years we’ve had switch outside of Minecraft.
The loser manchildren predicting its death are hilarious.

Same here....without hesitation. I get if other people want to wait, or if other people are upset about pricing strategy.
For me this is a no brainer. I still have every Nintendo device I ever bought - NES, SNES, N64, GC, WII, WIIU, and a bunch of gameboy and DS devices. I waited in line at Target for WII U at launch. I waited in line for Switch 1 at launch. This time I won't wait in line from 2am, but I'll definitely preorder!!

Seeing some stuff on X that Nintendo is postponing the April 9th preorder date. Anyone else seeing anything?

When kids ask their parents for switch 2 they're going to say you have switch at home.
Did parents do that with the PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, PS5?

In 5 years, Apple will bite the bullet and switch to the Year # = Phone Edition # convention that Samsung rolled out 5 years ago, and the neckbeards will think it's the most amazing revelation in the history of technology.
