I mean while we are on this subject, there will also never be a game like ffxi, which in my opinion was the GOAT

XI was my first MMO, never played Everquest. But like someone said, the community aspect of it was amazing and was crushed by solo-friendly MMOs (hi WoW!).

Hell, we'd have weekly fishing drinking games. Every time someone got a skillup, everyone would drink. It was a blast just to hang out and do basically jack shite.

My first mmo was Lineage 2 and I would do anything to play it at release again with how populated it was. The xp and gear grind was ridiculous but awesome.

I think MMO's can make a comeback someday it's just the market got flooded with too many WoW clones. The fad today is esports and Mobas.

I've played project 99, which is the closest you'll ever get to classic everquest. It's pure nostalgia. I can't ever see myself playing a game like that again unless my real life was miserable and I was looking for a true escape.

Only played through Velious but it was by far the best game I ever played. If there was a way to pick it up again on a Mac I absolutely would. Think I still have all the original discs as well.

Was on the Solusek Ro server when I played.

So classes like mages are completely op where their pet is a better tank then a full geared warrior.

It's only for the first expansion or two, and their newest progression servers only allow 1 account to be active per computer to cut back on the people botting with 2 and 3 groups of mages gibbing raid bosses. I even think on the newest one they nerfed mage pets.

I'm not saying they'll save the franchise, but that there is still the ability to get some of that nostalgia back. I played for a few months and had a blast.
