The Twisted Metal franchise

Loved Twisted Metal 2 back in the day, have been a fan of multi player vehicular combat games since Mario Kart.
Saw that they haven't put a release out in years, doesnt look like they will in the foreseeable future? Was wondering if anyone has any info on any rumors or news on any of it?
Seems with the current and upcoming generation of consoles, an established franchise that people may love..seems like it would be a good idea. I miss twisted metal and would love a modern reboot.

I'm not sure Twisted Metal has aged all that well.
I haven't played the reboot, but I think if it sold well, we'd see a sequel.

Pretty sure twisted metal black killed the franchise. It sucked.
