One of the greatest games of all time.

Incredible music.

Incredible world.

Great puzzles.

Great dungeons.

It literally doesn't get much better.

My favorite Zelda to this day.

Where do you rank it?

It's the best Zelda game released. Link Between Worlds was awesome to and might be the better game, but hard to beat nostalgia.

Major's Mask is my favorite because it stands out as unique.

HL2 is the best game all time IMO but its far from perfect. LttP might be perfect.

Top down has always been my preferred Zelda style. I couldn't get into Ocarina's 3rd person prespective, because everything looked the same. I found it too disorienting. That said, TP is probably my favorite Zelda game, with A Link to the Past being my 2nd all time favorite.

Wait, isn't TP 3rd person?

It's definitely my favorite as well, must say though, the first time playing OoT on N64 was pretty awesome just because the 3d factor of the game. LttP is definitely the one I replay the most.

Yes, but by then graphics had advanced enough to where every texture didn't look the exact same. I should have clarified that in my post.

I think ALttP blows OoT out of the water...and I even think OoT is an amazing game.

I rank things different than most.

To me, the best Zelda game is probably Ocarina of Time. It Did the most for the series, set the stage for the next 20+ years, and was truly a generation-defining game. It's more important to video games, to the series, etc.

However, and on topic, if you were to ask me my Top 5 Favorite games. ALttP is on that list and Ocarina just slightly misses. It was the better experience, especially at the time, it's more memorable, and just so much fun. And I love that world more than Ocarina's world. I also like that the story is unabashedly light hearted.

My Top 5 are probably 4 Super Nintendo games+ Super Mario Bros. 3, if that helps.

No HL2?

You've been judged.

I'm guessing (in no order):

SMB 3
SM World
A Link to the Past
Donkey Kong Country
Chrono Trigger

Was I close?

Top 10 for sure. But that Top 5 is too nostalgia focused for HL to break into that.

And honestly, if we're talking HUGE Favorite games list, I'd go with a Tiered approach rather than a Top 50 And yeah, HL/HL2 are Tier 1, easily.
