Really torn between Doom and FFVII

Haven’t played Ghosts yet but heard great things.

I just don’t think I can pick against Doom though.

I mean if you’re a Nintendo only owner yeah.

It kinda was though. There wasn't a single "wow" release imo. All the big, highly anticipated games were either just ok (e.g. Doom Eternal, FF7 remake), slightly disappointing (e.g. RE3 remake) or just flat out awful (e.g. TLOU2).

There were a bunch of decent games sprinkled throughout but nothing that moved the needle or will be remembered as being anything of note.

Even the best PS5 game out right now is just a remaster.

Cyberpunk 2077 is the calendar year's last chance at anything spectacular.

I don't think there's any question it will win. The field is pretty weak compared to most years and the entire game was created to be slobbered on by fart sniffing critics.

I thought FF7 remake was really good.

Ghost of Tsushima was also very good. I would pick it as my goty.

There aren't any

Even though it wasn’t as great as Doom 2016, Eternal is much better than “just okay”.

In fact if they fixed just a couple of small things it would be “great”:
- don’t make the Unmaykr, which takes a lot of effort to get, share the tiny BFG ammo pool
- replace the gold question marks

And yes phase 2 of the final boss is a head scratcher but still...

Doom Eternal is massively better than any Sony release this year, and most of their games have become the same boring shite
