Click me 4 ph4tl3wtz!
I stumbled across this EQ emulator a week or so ago, thought I would pass it along.
It's a more solo/duo version which allows multi-classing (up to 3 classes, I am currently playing a necro/bst/mage so I can have a pet army), allows for optional private zone instances, permanet buffs (until death), no death penalty, no multi-boxing and no botting. Currently has a few thousand playing and the Discord pop seems to be growing daily.
Expansion zones (except Bazaar) are progression-locked to each player.
It seems to be run (and continuing to be developed) by some old EQ devs.

Very interesting. Are you playing? Is it actually solo based?

Yes and yes.
My current character is Bardpet (nec/bst/mage). Just made it to Lower Guk to begin farming.
Once I hit 50 I'm going to farm Vox for AAs, then maybe try out something like a war/monk/bard to see what tanky dps is like

When I was teenager I wanted to play EQ so bad but I did not have the computer or connection to support it. I might have to give this a try sometime since it seems like its a great version for solo play.

It won't be EQ in its best, most chaotic form, but you also don't have to grind as much for so little (especially at higher levels) and not so group dependent.
There's no death penalty and doesn't appear to be falling damage. There are plenty of people playing and ooc chat is constantly going off with people advertising looking for raid groups, raid groups looking for people and people just chatting.
An interesting visual difference is that they've included the ability to change weapon graphics (you can pay a certain vendor or find items to slot in your weapon in the wild) as well as the visual effects on weapons (like the music notes on the bard epic). They've also added a TON of pet and personal illusions (usually clickies) so it makes going into the bizarre a bit of a "well, what new thing will I see this time" affair. As a footnote to this point, I just got a mod which will apparently make my weapon look like... a red eggbeater?

Solo'd Vox, then Naggy to get my Kunark flag. Kunark is a bit of a letdown. Having to fight my way out of Cabilis was fun, but at 50 most of the stuff was green to light blue. Even in Skyfire. Apparently Velious is the place to go next, but after hitting many of the old standby zones in the original game but finding them lackluster here, I didn't feel like going on another dragon hunt just yet.
Thankfully, Plane of Hate is accessible through the Translocator guy in the Bazaar. Currently level 51 and going full AA mode in Hate. Found a nice room with three spawns which range from dark blue to yellow, which means I can just leave it running in the background and type long-winded posts about the game on message boards while my minions keep the room killed off.

They have an NPC roaming around in the Bazaar who can grant IP exemptions, but they watch those like hawks because multi-boxing or any sort of automation is verboten and will get you banned with the quickness (just plopping down in a camp and going AFK while pets slaughter spawns is okay though).
That said, multi-classing isn't much different than multi-boxing except that you don't need multiple accounts. By default, characters start with 12 spell slots so having enough spells up, even with a multi-class character, isn't too bad (keeping up with all the new spells every level or two though... yeesh).
