To be honest, the people at the bottom of the list are already at a huge disadvantage when it comes to picking teams. Now that they can't pick a team from the Pac10 or the ACC its even worse.
ETA
-Alabama and LSU round out the SEC West
-Texas A&m is picked, so only Oklahoma/Texas can be picked, not both
-Michigan is picked, so only decent teams in the big 10 are Ohio State and Notre Dame, Penn State is okay I guess
Remaining decent teams available are: Either Texas/Oklahoma, not both. Florida and Georgia. Notre Dame and Ohio State. That leaves 3 below par teams for the last 3 picks..

what was the reasoning for not letting everyone pick who they want, regardless of conference and number of teams already picked from a conference?

PAC-10 has USC, Cal, oregon

Add UNC. Last year we just used acc and sec and it worked perfect.

I asked before hand if you wanted to do a draw or first come first server...the consensus was a draw.
And I want competition in this dynasty, we need an equal number in each conference so all the scheduling is relatively fair.
If you haven't figured it out yet, I'm going for a theme of fairness so nobody can complain and this thing will run smoothly.

if everyone picked whatever team they wanted, how would that not be fair?
that means the user wins or loses with the team of their personal choosing, rather than a team being forced upon them by attrition of a specific conference
