re: Started playing Dark Souls 2 again after getting it for $4.99 from Steam sale

I didn't like BB. The dodging seemed off and it got repetitive. Lack of variety in weapons, armor, and level design as well.
dodging was purposefully designed differently from dark souls. instead of rolling through everything with I-frames like Souls, dodges in BB were all about spacing and positioning and doing the little dance in and out of attack range
People complain about the fashion since there aren't as many outfits and they dont affect stats much, but I much preferred the approach to weapons. Instead of having 10 different variants each for longsword, axe, spear, etc they just gave you 25 extremely unique weapons that all function totally differently with wildly different purposes and movesets
cant disagree more on world design. only game that tops it in the series is DS1. DS3 is all rehashed stuff save for a select few areas. replays are such a slog because of the awful stretch from Road of Sacrifices to Irithyll

I like this part.

The only part of DS3 I don't like is the tree boss. I always struggle with that fricker no matter what my build is.
BB just felt more tedious. I didn't like having to farm for blood vials either. Although the chalice dungeons were a neat touch I hope From Software expands on that concept in future games.

I hate Farron Keep forever until I finally mastered it. Made it through without dying or using a bonfire finally. Just have to hope you don't get grabbed by the demon and thrown though.
The Ringed City is the most perfect area ever built though. Brutally hard and beautiful.

Was looking around on the PS store and saw that DS2, DS3, and Sekiro were all on sale ($9, $14, and $29 respectively if I remember correctly) so I decided to pull the trigger. I’ve completed Demon Souls remake, DS1 remastered, and Elden Ring and am stuck and really struggling with BB, so I decided to go ahead and knock out the other DS games.
Started 2 tonight and haven’t gotten very far. I’m about to venture in to the Forest of Fallen Giants which I’m guessing is the first real area after ducking around with the tutorial and the first little town with those fricking killer piglets
Can’t wait to really dig into this

I started DS2 last week. Just got to Iron Keep. It's been fun so far. Hoping I can at least help out for sunlight medals but not sure how active ps4 is gonna be.

I just started DS3 for the first time and I can’t get to the damn spear giant. That shite is brutal. Those big arse dudes with the boards on their backs and the saws in their hands can burn in hell.

Easiest way is to just run past all those guys to the elevator

I tried that too. Those lumbering bastards chase me down and beat me like I owe them money in the elevator room

Use a bow and arrow and draw them one at a time.

You mean the DS1 reskin?

sure seems like there are a ton of enemies to fend off early on in DS2. Dudes appearing out of nowhere in many cases. I don't recall getting mobbed so much in Demon Souls and DS1.

I'm at the Huntsman's Copse now.
I know that I'm still early on, but I feel that the bosses have been fairly easy to this point.

Iron keep is a bitch. Died 1000 times. Currently playing through it. In shaded woods now.

I need to finish it. I've beaten all of then, but this one. This game just felt neverending.

I've felt this way too. Haven't really had that one boss that crushed my soul until I got to the dlc.
I just finished up the dlc. By far the toughest bosses so far. Only have a couple more to go in NG.

I'm starting to feel this way as well. I am nearing the end I think. Just made it through the Dragon Aerie and starting Dragon Shrine.
I can't remember if Corrosive attacks were present in the first Dark Souls, but frick the person who came up with this idea. Going through the Aerie and having all my shite destroyed by the enemies that explode corrosive material all over me has easily been the most frustrating part of this game.

Yeah, DS2's bosses are ridiculously easy compared to the other Souls games. The hardest boss to me was Sir Alonne (followed by Fume Knight). I got wrecked by Sir Alonne so many damn times. DS2 DLC was awesome though. Hope that game gets a remake similar to Demon Souls one of these days.

To an extent. I prefer DS3 still, but grew into loving DS1 more and more.
