Spoiler discussion

Yeah, after everything Aytoum (sp?) fricking went thru to get to that point...really wouldn't make sense to not finish the objective.

Cool "secret" ending i guess. But makes no sense in the context of the story, yeah.

Well my version of Artyom solved things the old fashioned way. If it couldn't be solved with blunt force trauma, bullets, or nuclear fire then I didn't want anything to do with it.

I have the book and it's a great read.

I can't remember how long it was since launch when I picked it up, but I've never experienced any bugs with the game.

quote:

Yeah, I mean they didn't exactly present themselves as benevolent or kind. shite, you have to run away from them in that final sequence - going towards them ends the game. It would be a massive leap of faith to not pull the trigger with the nuke.

They actually do just that. They repeatedly tell Artyom how they want peace and how they're hoping he can serve as an ambassador basically since he can understand them instead of going crazy like most. One of the dark ones even says how children (the dark ones) despised by their parents (regular humans) want reconciliation and approval or peace or something. They show Arytom the vision of the playground before the war showing him how they want not only peace but to remake the world as it was before.

As for running from them that's basically when you're 5 minutes away from nuking them so they're just trying to survive.

It does if you pay attention to: what the dark ones say to you, the visions they show you, and above all Khan.

Well that is great and all, but the game ends when you finally have a chance to go face to face with one instead of run away. It's not a clear option to make nice with those damn mutants.

Hmm

Interesting

I do remember the playground scene. And of course the Anomoly saving me.

I didn't get the bad vibe from them until the end when they knew I had made it with the guided system. Whispering "destroy him" etc

If I could hear them saying that, why couldn't they just say "hey, lets talk this out"

Hey man, maybe those blob things in the bunker just wanted to hug me. And maybe the Librarian was just mad I was making so much noise in the library. Oh and those flying assholes were just.....flying assholes.

Anyways, there's a sequel coming out...so...im not entirely convinced setting off the nuke solved all of Artyom's problems.

lets be honest, knowing Metro, it probably just created more

I remember reading some Last Light info about dealing with a Dark One, so they are probably pissed I split the atom on their faces.

Yeah, exactly. Way too much bad shite trying to kill me to suddenly show mercy.

Dark ones needed to do a better job of communicating.

A fine ending for the casual fans and a cool secret ending for the hardcore fans for sure. Great game

This is my theory in most games.

They did that the entire game and yet you're climbing the tower to nuke them and that's only when they decide to stop you and it's only because they're literally minutes away from being annihilated at that point. They tried the entire game to reach you and convince you that your mission/path was wrong. Khan does the same thing.

Bad shite, but not dark ones.

It's a miracle Artyom can even understand them, when they try to communicate with humans it usually scrambles the person's mind. It's not like they can call him up or send cute text messages saying, "Hey bro, it would cool if you decided not to nuke us."

I think the info we have about this is pretty ambiguous. On one hand there's been speculation that the person you're trying to rescue in one of the trailers is a dark one, while I've also read that dark ones are not in the game. Luckily we get to find out soon enough.

Well in that case

Why is it, that me giving random people golden bullets a few times, is what determines the dark ones' fate in the end?

I do appreciate the explanation and discussion. But even if I was completely tuned in with what the dark ones were trying to tell me, since I am greedy and didn't give people currency when they begged I wouldn't even have the option to save them.

I guess it's your overall moral conduct that factors into it. An interesting note about the good ending

Spoilers

If you have accumulated enough moral points then when you awake from the vision you see the dark one that you shot still reaching for the guidance system trying to stop it while repeating, "...we want peace..."

Thanks for the discussion brah good shite.

And yeah, I suppose if im unwilling to give a kid 5 gold bullets, then im probably not interested in saving these fricks in the end eh. Hah

I think it required giving the kid the bullets, that was the only time I did it.
